Hi my name is drug and I'm a versatile vocalist and songwriter. I play and compose songs from the electric guitar, acoustic guitar, and keyboard. I use Ableton Live and can produce simple beats as well as compose entire songs with melodies, harmonies, and infectious hooks. The #1 booked live singer/guitarist in South Florida on The Bash.
Born and raised in South Carolina but living and working in the Miami music scene for the past 10 years, I've had the opportunity to work with a variety of artists in different music genres. Vocally, I can pull off a myriad of styles and my YouTube series "moodboard music" gives an example of blending inspirations and genres into a beautiful sound. My music can be found on Apple Music, Spotify, SoundCloud and every other online platform. I've worked with a handful of Grammy award-winning producers in Miami and I hope to be able to help you with your next song!

Interview with drug
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Universal Audio Apollo X4, Boss RC-30 Loop Station, Nord Electro 6D, Fender Telecaster, Shure SM58 mic.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Keep an open mind when creating. Don't married to one rhyme or word, make sure the best lyric and melody trumps all.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Pop, Contemporary R&B and Alternative R&B, alternative rock.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Ableton Live 10. AKG C-214 Condenser Microphone, Universal Audio Apollo X4 Interface. Mackie and Alto speakers. Tech21 Fly Rig, Fender Telecaster, Fender Mustang Amp, Taylor acoustic guitar, and Nord Electro 6D keyboard.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I released a live EP that includes 4 songs recorded live with a trio in the studio. I wrote, composed, and performed all 4 songs and you can check them out at https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLzrVGW6yP9onYEYMgLRQPiK81pq8OsQhw
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: My YouTube channel "Moodboard Music" and my debut independent album due out in September
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Daramola. Karen Inder. Ray Castro.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Many people think that singers who have been on "The Voice" or some other TV show means they are a professional singer or actually know anything about the music business and it's most times the opposite.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been writing and recording music since I was 12 years old. I am a full-time professional musician performing in the South Florida music scene.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Pharrell or the Neptunes. Because he and Chad Hugo make danceable hits that live on for decades.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: John Mayer, Miguel, Ty Dolla $ign, Jagged Edge, Justin Timberlake, PARTYNEXTDOOR, Pink Sweat$, The Dream, Pharrell.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

I've recorded and written with BEAM, Daramola, PXTN, Danny Coast from CoastCity, Ledoux and the Broken, Asaiah Ziv, and other Hip-Hop producers from South Florida. I've also recorded guitars for a few other singer/songwriters.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Eclectic Soul.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Vocal performance and songwriting. Creating electric Guitar and piano loops/samples.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I guarantee you will be satisfied or your money back.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love what I do because I get paid to do what I'm gifted at.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What is your budget? (I'm willing to be flexible) Publishing situation? (If I'm writing lyrics)
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Don't judge a book by its cover. Many vocalists can fake their way into singing good or sound good after heavy production. The best vocalists don't need autotune and a lot of work done on their vocals. Maybe have a provider send you a voice memo with raw vocals before hiring them?
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I try to bring passionate and soulful melodies, harmonies, and an open mind for where it should go.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Create guitar riff or chord progression, find melodies that work, then I begin writing with multiple references in front of me.
