Got a great song that doens't quite seem like it should? Perhaps you have a clear audible image in your mind's eye how it really should sound, but lack the knowledge to do it?
That's where I come in. I can bring your song to life by either enhancing the song to fully bring out the original idea, or I can go nuts and explore the endless possibilities of the sonic space. Your choice.

If, on the other hand, you're shopping for instrumentals today, hang on, I still got your back! I'll create for you, a fully arranged instrumental with verses, choruses and a brigde, or whatever arrangement you could wish for. You will receive the beat fully mixed , ready to be laced with your awesome vocals.
Here's what I can offer:

- High-fidelity, fully arranged and mixed instrumentals.
- Clean, clear and and crisp vocals.
- Pitch correction and editing of vocals if desired.
- Minor production and arrangement details if desired.
- Commercial-level master of your song(s) making them ready for broadcast.

My instrumentals are deeply rooted in (but not limited to) Soul, Hip-Hop, Trip-Hop, Dub, and Electronica,
and I love to experiment, and I love a challenge. Hit me with your best shot :-)

Interview with Christian Welde

  1. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  2. A: Mostly it's production, mixing and mastering, and often I'll do an instrumental for a track.

  3. Q: What's your typical work process?

  4. A: When it comes to mixing, I usually start with a listening session to gett the feel of the song, and to figure out what the main focus/elements are. I then start sculpting everything around the focal element, creating a nice, rich balance and ensuring organic blend of all elements.

  5. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  6. A: I like to think I bring clarity / enhancement and soul. Music is something alive, and I want to keep it that way. I like to keep dynamic range while simultaneously pushing the envelope. It depends upon the style ofcourse, but in general my goal is to take the original idea of a track and enhance it.

  7. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  8. A: Composition, Production and Mixing

  9. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  10. A: Hip-hop, R&B and Electronica

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: Continuously experimenting and learning new stuff, getting to hear new music and being able to push myself to improve the quality of my work.

  13. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  14. A: I've been writing, producing and performing music since 1998, and performing mixing and mastering services for others since 2014.

  15. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  16. A: My laptop, soundcard, speakers, midikeyboard and midi-mixer

  17. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  18. A: Be clear about what you're looking to achieve with a project, to avoid too much back and forth. Provide some examples if you're looking for a specific sound.

  19. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  20. A: I like working in the box. When it comes to quality, I don't think analog is necessarily better, it's just different. I really enjoy the sound of the plugins I use, and having everything in the box makes it more convenient and easier to expand.

  21. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  22. A: Nikey Vital: "The Diary II - Detour". I was the mixing and mastering engineer on this project. I also contributed an instrumental, and did some minor production on the record.

  23. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  24. A: I have a small studio setup, running Windows 10 on a desktop PC @ 3,6 gHz, 16GB RAM, and Samsung SSD drives. I have a t.c.electronic konnekt 8 interface, the Softube Console 1 with the included SL4000, a Røde NT1-A Microphone, and a pair Yamaha HS8 monitors. I'm running Cubase Pro9.5, and plugins from Waves, Melda Productions, Plugin Alliance and SPL, to name a few.

  25. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  26. A: Graham Cochrane, Dave Pensado, Tony Maserati, Manny Marroquin, Young Guru, Tommy Tee, Dr. Dre, The Game, John Mayer, D'Angelo, Seeed, Fat Freddy's Drop, Snoop Lion, Kendrick Lamar, Aesop Rock, Drake, Joss Stone, Adele, Corna Bros, Larro, and many more

  27. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  28. A: For Mixing, use your ears more than your eyes and take rests from songs to refresh your ears.
