Interview with Jackie Castro

Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I'm working on my debut album that's going to be released in 2021 :) While also writing songs for my SoundBetter clients and other projects in Nashville, LA, London, Bali & more!
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: In 2016 I made my debut into the music industry with my band Castro, a folk/pop trio consisting of my brothers Jason and Michael Castro. With the release of our EP ‘Diamond Dreams’ debuting at #1 on the Singer/Songwriter charts on iTunes and gaining over 9 million streams on Spotify, we made a national television appearance on The Wendy Williams Show and toured with acts such as Andy Grammer and Gavin DeGraw. In 2018, it was time for me to part ways and find my own voice. Leaving behind a record deal with Curb Records, I moved to Nashville where I worked to develop my artistry within the pop community. Now, I'm a completely independent artist and spend my time working on my artist project while also writing for other peoples projects!

A: Singer/songwriter pop!
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Jon Bellion is my dream collaborator. He writes lyrics that hit the heart while also making the most fresh & unique choices with production.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Pop, Dance & EDM, K-pop, Singer/Songwriter
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Melodies and vocal delivery are my strongest skills!
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I care about all aspects of a song and how they work together - from melodies, to lyrics, to bgv's, the delivery, etc. I know how to deliver a complete and compelling product! From pop to folk music, I have a lot of experience in professional co-writing and it's developed me into a really well rounded writer/singer.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I always give the exact timeline I'll be able to deliver the first demo, and it's usually within 2-3 days. From there I ask for any revisions my client would like and we work until it's perfect!
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Lyrics are my favorite part of songwriting so I admire writers like Julia Michaels, Emily Weisband, Lennon Stella, and of course, Taylor Swift for their honest and emotional lyrics.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I mostly deliver topline + vocal to tracks provided to me. I'll work with you until you get a song you're extremely happy with!
