Charlotte's got a beautiful voice and will do her work in a timely way (this is most appreciated and unusual). Her best feature is her ability to do beautiful harmonies. She's also very nice to work with.

Working with Charlotte has been a real pleasure.
She´s an amazing and professional songwriter, who knows what she wants, and also know how to ask for it. Furthermore, she has given me freedom to try some of my ideas, and have been very generous with the feedback.
Hope we work again, soon. - check_circleVerified

Interview with Charlotte Berg(ICEBERG)
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Bon Iver, Billie Eilish, Feist, Florence and the Machine, Paolo Nutini, Mundford and Sons, Lake Street Dive, Elton John
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I do production, writing and singing sessions most frequently. From 2012 to 2017 I toured throughout the US and Europe as a professional singer and musician, writing and recording albums when not touring. For the past 2 years I have been a resident producer and engineer at a central London studio in Soho.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Ambient and layered, with a focus on vocals and groove
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: I haven't had any miscommunications.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I have several productions and writing assignments at the moment. I usually book up 2 weeks in advance, sometimes longer.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both, each has it's pros and cons so I use the best of both.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: You'll have a track that's better than you could have imagined when we're done.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The creativity
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: When will the song be finished? It depends a bit on the song but usually within a month you'll have a mixed finished track.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Who are your influences? Which tracks work best as references for your song?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Do your research, figure out who would be the best fit for your project, and then think about exactly what you're looking to achieve so you can communicate this to your producer.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I'm proud of everything I've worked on. I try to improve a tiny bit every time I produce, write or perform.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I don't know any other producers on Soundbetter
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Shelford premap, U87 mic, Cubase on a mac, Kontak virtual instruments, an electric guitar
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been playing piano and guitar for 25 years, touring for 10 years, and engineering and producing for 5 years.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I'd love to work with Bon Iver or Feist in the future. Really I'd love to work with anyone with a great song... solid lyrics with a powerful message and an open mind to create something beautiful.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Leave space in the low mids so that the vocals stand out and the track sounds crisp and clear.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Rock, pop, indie, folk
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Producing/professional singing/songwriting
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I'm a multi instrumentalist with a fantastic ear for arrangement, harmony and melody. I can play everything on your track if you don't want to shell out the money for session muscians. I've been the artist so I know how it feels to put your faith in a producer. I've worked as a professional producer and engineer for several years now and have the knowledge and skill to make your track not just professional and polished, but stand out from other professional produced tracks.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I usually have a meeting with the client too discuss their goals and lay out a plan of action. Ill ask the client for reference tracks and any demos they have. We'll discuss the best tempo, key and arrangement for the song. I'll then lay down a preliminary production if the track needs programming or schedule a recording session if the track is fully acoustic. I always begin with drums, bass and guitar. Later, if application, I add piano and pads. The final stage is a vocal production session with the client and then comping, tuning, editing and mixing.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I use cubase primarily and Shelford and TLA preamps. I use a Vox guitar amp and a Kurzweil midi keyboard. I work both at a central London studio with live and control rooms and top of the line speakers as well as at my home studio. I also have vocoders and many many virtual instruments for programming.

"Ms. Berg is up there with early Judy Collins, and the brilliant Judith Durham (famous for the 1960’s hit “Georgy Girl,” the brilliant “I’ll Never Find Another You,” by The Seekers) – in the case of Durham you have to listen and set aside her English accent. It’s the purity of her vocals, her innocence and ability to take simplistic lyrics and make them sound artistic." - John Apice
