Endorse Timeflex ProductionsTimeflex has been very reliable for my mixing needs. He has a great sound, a quick turnaround, and always leaves me with a compliment about what he mixed. He is highly recommended, in fact, I have recommended him to friends.
If there was any producer I would recommend to work with it would be timeflex, he goes above and beyond on reaching out personally about any deals he has going on with beats as well as mixing and mastering. He also is the first person to tell me if there’s something I should re-record and gives an honest opinion on a track rather than the typical “yes man” mindset always saying something’s dope. I feel like after working with him the past year it’s definitely made me a better artist as well as understand some of the finer points from a producer standpoint. I recommend timeflex.
I have had the pleasure of working Timeflex for a good while now. Such a breeze to work with this man. He not only makes my music sound amazing, but he makes it a priority to exceed my expectations. Interview with Timeflex Productions
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: There is an album titled "Cuz It Bangz 4" by a rapper named D. Cure. This album had many other rappers featured as well. I was asked last minute to mix and master this whole album except 1 track (that was already finished), in a short amount of time. It was the first time working with this client, and I knocked it out of the park! He was so happy that I got it finished in time and went above and beyond on many tracks for him, and for a discounted rate! I can listen to this album every day and be proud of it, and his fans all enjoyed it. He ended up becoming a repeat client and I actually did the same thing w/ another album for him shortly after as well as more singles after that.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Right now I am working on a couple Hip-hop albums for independent rappers, beats for my beatstore, a new beat tape and more.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Not at the moment, I am new on here. But maybe soon!
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both! I love mixing and mastering in analog to get that warm vintage feeling, plus to make sure everything "sits right" in a record. Digital is also great! The mastering plug ins that are out these days have so much power!
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise that you will be satisfied with my services provided! 100% guarantee! If not, we will make it right!
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I truly enjoy working with different artists. I love the backstories everyone has, not one is the same as another. The opportunities of working with like-minded producers and artists in the field, and the ability to travel. Making my own hours most of the time. Do what I want, when I want... al though it's all work :
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: What equipment I use or how much I charge. Both questions are irrelevant but I answer them, then show why it doesn't matter once they hear how their song comes out. I'm not in a $100,000+ studio, But I can still achieve that standard sound as if I am.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That spending more money or less money means anything about how the end result will be! That all engineer and producers use the same plug ins and same tricks, tactics to achieve a sound. Every producer/engineer has a set of "rules" to follow, but most don't abide by every one. In fact, breaking rules of EQ, compression, etc sometimes can become beneficial. Not every producer or engineer can get you the same sound as the next guy/girl because, well, not everyone's work flow is the same! Someone may be charging you more money for a service, but they might not be able to achieve the sound that the cheaper option could have got you. And big expensive equipment doesn't mean a good end result either. It's all about experience and the ear of the engineer.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I ask to hear past work they have released, what their intentions are after releasing the music, if they've performed shows or not, and if they have access to all the "Stems" files (separate vocal, instrumental files).
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: I suggest looking around, experimenting w/ a few engineers until you find a personality you enjoy working with. Also if someone reaches out to you, give them a chance, because they most likely are familiar w/ your style and like it already.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: 1. Guitar 2. Tambourine/Shaker 3. Bongo 4. Microphone 5. Snare
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started Timeflex Productions back in 2012. But I self taught guitar back when I was 12 years old. The years in between were filled w/ many hours of practicing. I started songwriting around 14, then later on started producing and engineering my own music which then I turned into a business.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My musical style can adapt. If I'm feeling chill I will make something laid-back. If i'm feeling upset or energetic I may make something you can play in the gym.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would like to work with the writers of the James Bond themes and make some epic songs! Or any large orchestra like that. As far as rapper and singers, maybe Eminem and Rihanna. Rockstars, I'd have to say Eddie Van Halen. But I'd like to work w/ many artists from many different genre's.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: I always mix like there's no such thing as mastering! I can make a mix so strong that you barely need to master it afterwards! This way, when the mix is finished the master will only enhance what you have already done. You won't need to do any subtractive EQ'ing or anything due to peaks in the mix.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Hip-Hop, Trap, R&B, Pop, Alternative Rock, Caribbean, and more! I work with all different kinds of artists and sounds! Check my production catalog on my official website. Or my beat tape "Legendary: The Beat Tape" by "Timeflex".
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Communication, listening and understanding are my strongest skills. (Also being able to get things done in a short amount of time. Grind Mode!) All this started because I pushed myself to provide whatever customers requested of me! I learned what was needed and without them I couldn't do it. When I was first starting out in this business, I wasn't great yet, but I listened to what people requested of me and I made it happen. If I wasn't friendly none of this would have worked. Some producers/engineers are really great at what they do, but they're terrible to work with! I made sure that first before I was good at what I do, at the very least I always provided good communication and friendliness. Then once I got better, I gained the trust I have today.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring all my years of experience when I start working on your song! Everything I know I apply, and if I din't know something, I will learn it in my spare time so that I can provide the best work for the client! I bring that little extra flair to a song that most wouldn't even know what it is... But I do it. I have my own tricks to make sounds pop, or sit a certain way in a record, in a way that most producers or engineers can't achieve. I pride myself on this.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: When I receive a file from a client I usually will start immediately unless there's someone before them. I hate the word "quick".. I prefer the word "efficient"! But.. I do have very quick turn around times, I am reliable and I keep the lines of communication open while we are working together so that I can help bring your vision to fruition exactly how you want it! Or, even better!
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I work out of an efficient home studio that has everything I need to produce and engineer hit records. Check my production catalog on my official website. KRK Monitor Speakers, Custom Built Gaming/Production Desktop, Focusrite's 18 input Audio Interface, Live Electric Guitars, Top of the line Microphones and Headphones by Audio Technica, etc...
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I stay informed and aware of what is going on in the producer community as well as the overall music scene across the board. I have many artists, producers and business men and women that I look up to for guidance. Al though I go my own way and do things my way, I'm not ignorant to what is correct and preferred. Some producers I look up to are Dr Dre, The Alchemist, Pharrell Williams, Curtiss King, Tone Jonez, DJ Pain 1 and more... I also love classical music, R&B, Pop, Rock and more styles, so I tend to draw inspiration from all over.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: A client may come to me for one specific service, then later on will need more services to help them further their music career to the next level. I do a lot of song mixing & mastering. I clean up vocal files and instrumentals, add reverb, eq, compression & more to achieve the desired sound. Most artists I work with require that "radio-ready" sound but do not have access to audio engineers in professional studios as they charge a lot. Another service I offer to clients is custom production, as well as beats out of my 500+ beat catalog. Sometimes an artist will need their own website, so I will also offer web design as well.
