Jazz-trained instrumentalist and composer specializing in electronic, folk, and popular music.
"Low woodwind specialist and composer Aidan Furlong is extending beyond his jazz background by developing a system to fluidly merge live instrumental improvisation with electronic production. Influenced by jazz musicians from Charlie Parker to Ornette Coleman and beyond, as well as modern and classic hip-hop, punk-rock, and American folk music, Aidan is searching for a way to be able to slide freely between those genres, as though there was never a line between them to begin with."
As an instrumentalist, I record all parts in my home studio and return them to you quickly. I am comfortable receiving written music, a sample to learn the part by ear from, or composing single and section parts to fill out the sound and as a top line. An unusual specialty I deal with is using audio effects for wind instruments. This will involve close communication between you and me but can yield the most unique sounds to distinguish your recording.
As a composer/arranger, I can flesh out your ideas for any size acoustic ensemble, or just one section (i.e. strings, winds, horns, or rhythm). I am happy to keep in contact through this process to ensure the product you receive is exactly what you wanted.
