Amanda Cunningham on SoundBetter

I'm a professional vocalist/songwriter, and I've been working as a singer/songwriter/vocal producer for 5+ yrs. I accomplish in hours what can take other singers an entire studio day. As a very versatile singer with an almost four-octave range, I believe I can make your song sound the way you have been picturing it.

Services I Provide:
*Professional Songwriting/Top-Line (Lyrics and Melody)
*Feature and background vocals for demos and commercial use
*Features for Artists

The Process:
1. Message me with what you need to finish your project :)
2. Once agreed upon, you will send me the track, BPM, key and lyric sheet (if applicable)
3. Once the project is funded, I will start recording at my home studio
4. I will send you an mp3 roughly mixed by me for you to first approve
5. Once you approve and the funds are released, I will send you a dry & processed a cappella track. (and anything else you may need)

*My average turn around time is 1-3 days (sometimes sooner depending on my schedule and the task at hand)
* I am work for hire only and retain no songwriting credits or royalties (unless this is a songwriting project of course :) )
* My name "Amanda Cunningham" cannot be used as a feature without my permission

I'd love to hear about your project. Click the 'Contact' button above to get in touch.

It was great working with Amanda. She has a great voice and our communication about the direction for the song was perfect. Thank you!

  2. Review by Jordan Tallon

I was in need of some really moody and well thought out vocals. I was really blown away by Amanda’s vocal and dynamic range as well as how she was able to put really good lyrics together in a relatively short amount of time. Her professionalism made it easy to work with her, and I truly look forward to having the chance to work with her again.

I worked with Amanda on a pop production and her vocal performance was amazing. The quality of her work and her professionalism mean she is a pleasure to work with. I would definitely recommend hiring her!

Bottom line: Amanda was able to provide just the sound I was looking for and I couldn’t have asked for an easier person to work with. After weeding through my previous options, I did some more digging and happened to link up with her. I got those chills you look for as an artist during our first recording session, because I had found that sound I was hoping to find in a female vocalist for hooks to a couple of my songs. One thing I really appreciated right off the bat was her ability to (patiently) understand certain vibes I was describing and then translate them to her part of the song.

Interview with Amanda Cunningham

  1. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  2. A: I mostly do studio session vocals for demo songs as well as providing "hooks" or chorus' for another musicians song.

  3. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  4. A: I LOVE Tori Kelly. She did it all on her own with just heartfelt songs, talent, and good production. I admire that. I try to be like her.

  5. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  6. A: My ability to take criticism and to take it and really make a song be the vision that was dreamt of :)

  7. Q: How would you describe your style?

  8. A: I would describe it as soulful and powerful vocals. But I can definitely move between genres and vibes as needed.

  9. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  10. A: Seeing how happy they are when they hear the demo and realize they could finish the song even if they weren't able to provide the vocals themselves. They can have their vision still come through and I love how excited they get.

  11. Q: What's your typical work process?

  12. A: Get an inquiry, ask more about the vibe and the style they would want to convey in the song (maybe ask for a well-known artist's song as an example of the vibe they want), begin work on the vocals, and send off. There is always an open line of communication as well if a line needs to be sung differently or if there needs more energy type of thing. This can all be worked out no problem.

  13. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  14. A: Magnificentness. Just kidding :) But really, I do think I bring the song to life the way it was envisioned and I do this by making sure that the song is enunciating the way it's intended, the vibe and energy match the song, and all the notes and feelings are there.

  15. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  16. A: Any kind that comes my way but the genre I've worked the most on is hip-hop, rnb, and pop.

  17. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  18. A: Make sure the vocals are as on point as possible before the mix starts. Better to start with a good foundation instead of trying to make all these tweaks that could be made with a retake.

  19. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  20. A: Maggie Rogers. She's just a beautiful person inside and out and I love that her lyrics mean something to her. She's so different from anything out there right now too. She's just inspirational in the way she views and performs music

  21. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  22. A: I've currently been a professional singer for the past 3 years. I've mostly been a vocalist in wedding bands singing cover songs and doing session work for clients.

  23. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  24. A: Make sure you provide as MUCH information upfront on what you're looking for out of the vocalist that way there isn't needless back and forth with a provider that actually isn't a good fit for what you're looking for.

  25. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  26. A: What is a song that you love that you think this song you're looking to finish sounds most like? This way I can understand the emotion, vibe, enunciating, etc.

  27. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  28. A: I just play on YouTube all day...

  29. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  30. A: You will be happy with the end result. If you're unhappy with any part of the process I will make sure that my work is not complete until you have a product that works for you.

  31. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  32. A: Mickey Shiloh. She's a fantastic singer and writer.

  33. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  34. A: Original songs for me as an artist and improving my meh guitar skills :)

  35. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  36. A: I have a separate room in my house and I have it all soundproofed with panels I got from another studio that moved, I use a Blue Microphone SL Large Diaphragm Condenser Studio Mic. that brings a rich, warm quality to my vocals, and I record and mix it all on Logic Pro X.
