Amanda is an exceptionally talented vocalist who was a pleasure to work with. I asked her to perform lead vocals on a pre-written song and she created an absolutely top-notch vocal track. She was also very professional and quick to respond to messages.

I have nothing but positive things to say about Amanda. Very kind person, easy to negotiate terms with, and most importantly, a very smooth but powerful voice. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for vocals.

I was in need of some really moody and well thought out vocals. I was really blown away by Amanda’s vocal and dynamic range as well as how she was able to put really good lyrics together in a relatively short amount of time. Her professionalism made it easy to work with her, and I truly look forward to having the chance to work with her again.
I worked with Amanda on my debut Christmas single and am so glad I did!! I've been a lone ranger up until this point and have always been a bit nervous about working with someone else. This experience could not have gone any better. She is a brilliant writer and the perfect combo of easy going, while still pushing me to make the song as good as it can possibly be.
Thank you again Amanda for helping my Christmas dreams to come true!
Amanda not only has a great voice, she has a great professional demeanor. Working with her was a breeze and the results were outstanding. I highly recommend hiring her for your next project!
I worked with Amanda on a pop production and her vocal performance was amazing. The quality of her work and her professionalism mean she is a pleasure to work with. I would definitely recommend hiring her!
Bottom line: Amanda was able to provide just the sound I was looking for and I couldn’t have asked for an easier person to work with. After weeding through my previous options, I did some more digging and happened to link up with her. I got those chills you look for as an artist during our first recording session, because I had found that sound I was hoping to find in a female vocalist for hooks to a couple of my songs. One thing I really appreciated right off the bat was her ability to (patiently) understand certain vibes I was describing and then translate them to her part of the song.
Amanda is a powerhouse vocalist! I highly recommend working with her!
Interview with Amanda Cunningham
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Original songs for me as an artist and improving my guitar and piano skills :)
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've currently been a professional singer for the past 6 years. I've mostly been a vocalist at events, session demos, and writing songs with other artists to help them tell their stories.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I specialize in pop/R&B/country but really any songs that need a powerful vocal on them.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Session vocals for demos, as well as providing "hooks" or chorus' for other musicians' songs. Also toplining.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That I just play on YouTube all day watching cover videos or doodle in notebooks.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style is soulful and powerful with raw emotion behind it. It's fun to start a little more restrained at first so that the chorus and bridge can really shine.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Julia Michaels because she's amazing at telling her story in a relatable and honest way that is also fun and becomes something you can tap your toe to :)
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My ability to take feedback and criticism and push myself harder to become an even greater version of myself.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Magnificentness :) But really, I bring the song to life in the emotional and powerful way clients envision and I do this by making sure that the song is enunciating the way it's intended, the vibe and energy match the song, and all the notes and feelings are there. It's really a collaborative process and I will keep going until you are 110% satisfied.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I LOVE Tori Kelly. She did it all on her own with just heartfelt songs, talent, and good production. I admire that. I try to be like her. I'm also super inspired by Julia Michaels because her honest and raw songwriting and singing is just something I aspire to in my own writing skills.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a separate room in my house and I have it all soundproofed with panels I got from another studio that moved, I use a Blue Microphone SL Large Diaphragm Condenser Studio Mic. that brings a rich, warm quality to my vocals, and I record and mix it all on Logic Pro X.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Mickey Shiloh. She's a fantastic singer and writer.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: You will be happy with the end result. If you're unhappy with any part of the process I will make sure that my work is not complete until you have a product that works for you.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What is a song that you love that you think this song you're looking to finish sounds most like? This way I can understand the emotion, vibe, enunciating, etc.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Make sure you provide as MUCH information upfront on what you're looking for out of the vocalist that way there isn't needless back and forth with a provider that actually isn't a good fit for what you're looking for.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Make sure the vocals are as on point as possible before the mix starts. Better to start with a good foundation instead of trying to make all these tweaks that could be made with a retake.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Get an inquiry, ask more about the vibe and the style they would want to convey in the song (maybe ask for a well-known artist's song as an example of the vibe they want), begin work on the vocals, and send off. There is always an open line of communication as well if a line needs to be sung differently or if there needs more energy type of thing. This can all be worked out no problem.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Seeing how happy they are when they hear the demo and realize they could finish the song even if they weren't able to provide the vocals themselves. They can have their vision still come through and I love how excited they get.
