Mastering and Mixing

I began as a multi-platinum recording artist, and fell into being a producer (which I loved). About 8 years ago, I had to master a friend's project out of emergency--turns out that people really liked what I did, so I've been mastering ever since.

Good, solid mastering is crucial to a professional-level project. I personally find that it's what you don't do that can make a record sound huge. . .simply compressing the hell out of it is not mastering. . . On top of all of that, good mastering engineers charge waaaaaayyyy too much. (It's a matter of taste, but it isn't rocket-science.)
