Professional full-range demo singer (including free harmonies and recording/production) and singer/songwriter
I do professional vocal demos, including both melody and harmony parts. I have a very wide range and can sing virtually any key desired. I have been doing this professionally since 2011.
Country and rock music are my specialties, but I can sing any genre of music except rap and death metal ;)

Interview with Vanessa Dawn Rogers (singer)
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: My song Take It All. I did all writing, recording, and production for the song, and also produced the music video. This was a big project that was lots of fun and a great learning experience!
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: New song release! ;)
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital. I don't know how to use analog :)
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: Satisfaction guaranteed! If you are not happy with my finished product, I will work with you to make it right and exceed your expectations.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love singing and I love helping people. Doing demos allows me to do both ;)
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: How much embellishment would you like? Do you want me to stick to your basic lyrical melody, or embellish upon it and add my creative touch? Are there any places in the song you definitely want harmony? What mood do you want the vocals to evoke?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: You won't be able to find a better value and quality than I provide. I give you harmony and production included in my basic vocal demo price, so you won't have to find/hire a harmony singer and/or producer/engineer. I am a one-stop shop for you, and all you need to have before working with me is the music.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Microphone, computer, speakers, sound shield, and interface
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been a singer/songwriter for as long as I remember, but I didn't start singing full time until 2011 when I auditioned at Tootsies. I have been recording demos for writers since before that time, around 2009 when I first moved back to the Nashville area after a brief time away. That was what actually opened the door for me at Tootsies. Since that time, I have done many demos for writers in Nashville and beyond, and sang thousands of shows all around the country, and have even been blessed with the opportunity to open for artists like Kid Rock, Terri Clark, Tracy Lawrence and many others.
Q: How would you describe your style?
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Johnny Cash! But if we are talking only about living artists - Miranda Lambert, Kacey Musgraves, or Chris Stapleton :) Each of these artists have unique artistic and lyrical styles and abilities that I admire and enjoy. They inspire me!
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Make sure your vocals do not top out so that they are not distorted in the mix!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: country and rock
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Vocal range and execution
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Unique vocal quality and impressive range. Ability to creatively add to the lyrical style while keeping the writer's intent and satisfaction in focus.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Record vocals until satisfactory, then record harmonies. Check with client for satisfaction on work. Finalize production, and send to client.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a full studio set up and am able to do all recording and production work in house, so you don't have to hire someone else to do that! I am basically saving you from paying the additional price of an engineer/producer to record the demo (at least $100 value).
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Dolly Parton, Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, Christina Aguilera, Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, Chris Stapleton
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Vocal demos, including the harmonies and recording/engineering the production of vocals
