(Anthony Hamilton, Tasha Cobbs Leonard, William Murphy). I have a B.S. degree in Music Production and Recording Arts from Elon University. Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I get to do what I love for a living and make money for it!!
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Macbook Pro, Midi Keyboard, Microphone, Interface, and Headphones. The essentials is all I need.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would love to work with Beyonce one day because she is very musical in terms of her riffs and harmonies. Me being a musician working with such a talented singer, I would be able to go beyond the norm.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Always trust your gut not what's trendy.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I usually work on R&B, Hip-Hop, Pop, and Gospel. However, I've had years of experience in other genres such as Jazz, Fusion and Blues. So my versatile has definitely made me an asset when collaborating with others.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is my sense of melody. When you think about timeless songs, they all have great melodies. I have a distinct ear for unique and catchy melodies.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: My process can vary depending on the project/client. However, I typically start with a progression from the keyboard and from there it can go from bass lines, vocal chops and more. Whatever sparks my creativity at the moment I run with it to ensure I make a great body of work.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My setup consist of Ableton Live 10 as my DAW. My keyboards include Korg Kronos 2, Roland Jupiter 80, Omnisphere/Keyscape, Native Instruments, etc. Along with a long list of audio software.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I am a big fan of Mike Dean, Boi-1 da, Max Martin, Poo Bear, etc.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: When working with clients my duties can vary from recording keyboard/synths, composing the arrangement, making the beat, or producing the entire song.
