The 25th Hr on SoundBetter

Grammy-nominated Music Producer/ Composer. Multi-instrumentalist (piano, guitar, bass, clarinet, synths. ) with a specialty in sound design ( analog and digital synthesis ) and arrangments. Recently contributing to "Drake's - Scorpion" album on the track "Emotionless". An Education in Audio Engineering & love of sound design has shaped the sound.

I'm completely independent & choose what I want to work on based on if I love it.
I'll be honest while pushing to get the most out of the record to complete the vision.
I have my own production studio West of Toronto, for pre-pro. Not set up for vocal recording.
Over the course of the last couple of years, I've performed with and contributed in sessions with
artists such as. Mount Kimbie, SG Lewis, Majid Jordan, STWO, Lou Val, Jon Vinyl, NBDY and appreciate music happening organically.

My Specialties blend from R&B/Soul, Hip-Hop, Electronic, Jazz, Pop. I believe in utilizing digital aspects with the warmth and life of analog and live sounds. Capable of doing a lot more than the 7 specialties so contact for any additional request.

Interview with The 25th Hr

  1. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  2. A: what they're looking to accomplish with it, their inspiration. the size of the job so its fair to both parties when terms are set. Besides that, it really depends on what they need and can base my questions on that.

  3. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  4. A: know what you want, so i can deliver.

  5. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  6. A: I'd be out of luck my favorites all need electricity.

  7. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  8. A: I've been producing for 10 years. engineering and mixing for 4/5 years. Playing music for 13 years(piano/clarinet/synths/drum prog)(Guitar and bass for 4 years). Was more secluded at the time and really doing music for myself as a writer and artists when i first started before going to school for music production and audio engineering. Since the production on Drakes album, I've been working more in the lines collaboratively as producer and executive producer on R&b and Indie Pop Records, Really Only giving production exclusively to a&r's.

  9. Q: How would you describe your style?

  10. A: A deep and textured modern take on urban contemporary genres with a vast fusion of styles blended from Bossa Nova to R&B to whatever is currently inspiring me to be a tastemaker over following trends

  11. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  12. A: Frank Ocean. A really intriguing sound that I feel complements my style. I want to make records that sound good years from now and I think he's done it.

  13. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  14. A: Leave Room for the vocals without losing the feel. always consider the top line in the back of your head.

  15. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  16. A: Hip-Hop, R&B/Soul, Electronic, Indie Pop, anything that makes me feel something

  17. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  18. A: Production in Pro Tools, Synth, and sound design, Playing piano and guitar, an education in audio engineering, and run on sentences. I think the combination of many skills with a focus on some is needed today a lot more.

  19. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  20. A: Mostly creativity sonically to a good song, I add elements that keep the audience engaged with the arrangement to keep the focus where ever I want the listener to pay attention.

  21. Q: What's your typical work process?

  22. A: Pro Tools then whatever fits the occasion. For small sessions me and a vocalist who wants it chill: whatever mic suits them best, a nice channel strip I like the API or pre73 neve style. Or could go to a big A room and go Avid S6 M40 but I like to keep the session stripped down to make sure the artist has it set up the way they want it. Work fast
