The 25th Hour (Andrew Gowie) on SoundBetter

Grammy-nominated Music Producer & Mixing Engineer. Multi-Platinum Billboard Charting. I Specialize in Rnb, hip hop, pop, singer-songwriter, indie, & Soul.

I want to help new and established artists in achieving the best sounding record possible.

I have over 10 years of experience in the music industry, Graduating from Seneca@York. U in Toronto. Since then I have worked out some of the best studios in Toronto as a Producer & Engineer. I now live in Paris where my studio has a collection of Analog Hardware, Synthesizers, Instruments & Creativity that are used daily. I frequent Los Angeles, Paris, Toronto & New York for sessions.

For Mixing, I use Pro Tools, but you can send FL Studio or Ableton sessions, and I can open them and export them. I mix in a hybrid digital-Analog setup. Bus Summing to outboard gear and Tape if you want. I master songs mostly in the Digital Domain ( for recall and flexibility ) I but with analog compression in the chain. When it comes to plugins I have just about everyone created. :)

One of the most talented producers in the game. Exceptionally communicative, very consistent, and truly did his best to make our track better; he not only catered to my vision, but offered suggestions and improvements based on his own experience. I recommend him highly!

Interview with The 25th Hour (Andrew Gowie)

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: I'm currently working as an Executive producer on some albums and eps for 2022, as well as an engineer. Also some Instrumental Albums and beat tapes for secondary outlets for my creativity. I'm working on my Sample Pack & Audio Plugin Company with a partner, as well as Sample packs through third-party distributors like splice and the drum brooker.

  3. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  4. A: Both each have their own strength and individual tools that can't be copied on either side.

  5. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  6. A: To always go the extra step so it's done right, and it sounds good.

  7. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  8. A: Seeing when someone gets to experience the music for the first time when it transports them.

  9. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  10. A: Ability to listen with fresh and unbiased ears. Every song is different and requires a different approach.

  11. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  12. A: Always switches up but here's the latest iteration. 13. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  14. A: what they're looking to accomplish with it, their inspiration. the size of the job so its fair to both parties when terms are set. Besides that, it really depends on what they need and can base my questions on that.

  15. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  16. A: know what you want, so i can deliver.

  17. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  18. A: I'd be out of luck my favorites all need electricity.

  19. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  20. A: I've been producing for 10 years. engineering and mixing for 4/5 years. Playing music for 13 years(piano/clarinet/synths/drum prog)(Guitar and bass for 4 years). Was more secluded at the time and really doing music for myself as a writer and artists when i first started before going to school for music production and audio engineering. Since the production on Drakes album, I've been working more in the lines collaboratively as producer and executive producer on R&b and Indie Pop Records, Really Only giving production exclusively to a&r's.

  21. Q: How would you describe your style?

  22. A: A deep and textured modern take on urban contemporary genres with a vast fusion of styles blended from Bossa Nova to R&B to whatever is currently inspiring me to be a tastemaker over following trends

  23. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  24. A: Frank Ocean. A really intriguing sound that I feel complements my style. I want to make records that sound good years from now and I think he's done it.

  25. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  26. A: Leave Room for the vocals without losing the feel. always consider the top line in the back of your head.

  27. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  28. A: Hip-Hop, R&B/Soul, Electronic, Indie Pop, anything that makes me feel something

  29. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  30. A: Production in Pro Tools, Synth, and sound design, Playing piano and guitar, an education in audio engineering, and run on sentences. I think the combination of many skills with a focus on some is needed today a lot more.

  31. Q: What's your typical work process?

  32. A: Pro Tools then whatever fits the occasion. For small sessions me and a vocalist who wants it chill: whatever mic suits them best, a nice channel strip I like the API or pre73 neve style. Or could go to a big A room and go Avid S6 M40 but I like to keep the session stripped down to make sure the artist has it set up the way they want it. Work fast

  33. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  34. A: MixedbyAli, D'Angelo, Esperanza Spalding, Radiohead, James Blake, Metro Booming, Travis Scott, John Mayer, Jodeci, Prince, Drake, J Cole, 40, Flying Lotus, Rosalia, Sade, Russell Elevado, Mike Dean, Rick Rubben, Timberland, Just Blaze, SIA, Josh Gudwin, Dave Pensado, Frank Ocean

  35. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  36. A: production but they usually don't want to lose the vibe and want me to mix it as well. Besides that Executive production and post-production to bring a record a little further a little cooler.
