Justin Mantooth on SoundBetter

With over 15 years of pro experience, I can provide big impactful, yet natural sounding recordings and mixes. I use a hybrid method of high end analog equipment and Pro Tools.

For over 15 years, I have been recording professionally. For over 20 years, I have been playing in rock bands. I work on many genres of music, including, but not limited to, all styles of heavy rock and indie rock production. My emphasis is on a more natural sound but with big impact. Currently, I work as Head Engineer at Westend Recording Studios, and write for Tape Op Magazine.

Justin has mixed several projects of mine that have a very wide range from electro, r&b, rock, orchestral, and pop. I’m always confident in his ability to communicate honestly and clearly. He asks great questions as far as artistic intent and really knows how to create a dynamic mix that is not only professional but exciting to listen to. Beyond that, he’s really a fun person to work with. Projects include My Brothers & Sisters, Stephonne Singleton, Amajie Vedra, Calvin Arsenia, and Mayme Marshall.

Justin engineered and co-produced our first record - “Create, Refine, Repeat” by The Havens. The end product sounds fantastic, and we are very pleased with the results. His expertise behind the console and knowledge of all the killer gear at WestEnd Recording Studios made for a great experience, and I would highly recommend him for any project... regardless of the genre.

Justin has recorded, mixed, and produced records for 2 bands I have played in (Sharp Weapons and Leering Heathens). His knowledge and experience of all things gear/recording/rock related are only superseded by his attention to detail and passion for his craft. If you’re serious about putting out great sounding material, you want his name in the credits.
