I'm Stephen, a UK based mixing and mastering engineer with a decade of experience in the industry.

I've had the privilege of working with a number of talented artists including Pop/Rap artist Keanan, recently signed to Coca-Cola’s music division ‘Coke Studio’. Keanan and other clients of mine have also been showcased on BBC Radio 1, Radio 1 Xtra and Capital FM. Tracks I have mixed and mastered have been featured on the likes of ITV’s ‘Love Island’, Amazon Original Film ‘Back To Lyla’ and are regularly featured on Spotify’s ‘New Music Friday’ playlists.

Interview with Stephen John

Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: The studio is powered by Universal Audio, I run microphones, hardware, DSP plugins and have additional preamps linked to the interface which allows me freedom to work faster using UA's console software. My Mac Pro and Logic/Pro Tools setup gives me more than enough power to complete mixes which have hundreds of tracks, sends and software instruments all running on the mixer.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I am a mixer first and foremost however I produce and record songs for my in person clients. Mixing is my speciality and my work is a 50/50 mix of in person mixing which I enjoy and also remote mixing, which is great as it allows me to focus in more on specific elements of a mix and go into more detail than I usually would be able to with an in person client as I don't have as many time constraints.
