Interview with Emanuele D'Ugo
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: generally i listen all single tracks, make some editing if necessary, then i go to mix phase, drum before, i set bd, sn, hh, oh, open toms, add bass guitar sound, add string and guitar, put key in, add choir, add vox. for every single track are added dynamics, EQ & FX (the right amount for genre that you play). when done i refine all level to avoid digital master clip, then i attach fader automation and finally mix all level in a stereo track.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: dependat from budget, when i do low budget mix i use my ho studio setup (mac, ssl duende, logic pro, pro monitor), for normal budget mix i use Pims Studio (http://www.pims-group.it visit for spec)
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: for classica i think that deutsche grammophon is a reference in audio recording and mixing, im started from here until i'm arrive to metal (bob rock) and pop (alan parson, pink floyd), after a lot of hours spent to listen all musics genres i think to have a good global overview .
