Trust my creativity, intuition and feel for YOUR sound.
I´m working as a mixing engineer mainly in Pop, R & B. I´m specialized exclusively in mixing because I believe that only specialization can lead to extraordinary results. The close contact with my clients is a very important part of my success. I´ll turn your recording into a great record. I´m mixing using a special hybrid workflow with digital elements but also great analogue stuff (see my gear highlights) to combine the best of both "worlds". Simply test my creativity. Depending on the project and circumstances of the artist I eventually do the first mix for free.
I'd love to hear about your project. Click the 'Contact' button above to get in touch.

Endorse Andreas LeonhardI have worked with Mr. Leonhard many times over the last decade. His true love of music really shines through in his mixes! I also love his mix of oldschool analog and digital gear. I would highly recommend this amazing engineer.
I have nothing but raves for Andreas. He is a very talented mixing engineer and a very nice person. He recently mixed a project of mine (all through online communication) that had multiple different genres and styles of music, ranging from Motown to soft ballads, and he handled every genre with ease. His mixes feel very natural and live. He is great at communicating and listening to your feelings on the mix and has an obvious passion for music and his work. Very highly recommended!!
Interview with Andreas Leonhard
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I worked on this `Hair the musical` album and mixed all songs: https://music.apple.com/us/album/hair-the-musical-detroit-cast-original-score/1455659738
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: On the next musical theatre project after "Hair".
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: BOTH! I´m working hybrid on every project, that´s my speciality. The mix goes from Pro Tools into an analogue summing, through some nice analogue outboard and then straight onto analogue tape.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Mac, Pro Tools, Apollo x8 with all the plug-ins, Tegler Creme and my tape machine for mixdown 1/4" tape.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I´m doing this for 28 years all in all. The first 15 years I worked mainly in radio broadcasting but then found out my love and passion for mixing in 2007. I brought in my entire experience and knowledge in sound engineering into mixing.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I think at the end of the day you can hear kind of a `handwriting` in every mix a mixing engineer has done if you know him but I always try to avoid this. The goal is to turn the clients´ wish into a unique sounding mix. His name is the most important name on the cover. To my ears a final mix should sound dynamic and emotional and that´s my `style`.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Save all the dynamics!!!
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My studio setup it mainly digital but combined with selected vintage analogue gear. If mainly mixdown every song to analogue tape!
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I love the work of Michael Brauer, Tom Elmhirst, and also the giants Bruce Swedien and Al Schmitt. I learned so much from them.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I´m specialized in mixing Pop, R & B, soundtrack, musical theatre.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: If the recording is good you´ll get an awesome mix.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: To listen to great music the whole day and living out my creativity and instincts to lift the song and project to it´s next level.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Which special sound and feel are you looking for ?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Choose the one who takes enough time to listen to your wishes and you feel the most comfortable with. Not necessarily the famous guys in the business are the best to work with and will lead you to the best results.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Pop, R & B, soundtrack, musical theatre.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I love the music and creativity of Sade. Her songs are so versatile and unique. But that´s only one example. There are so many talented artists out there and I love to support especially new artists.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Creativity.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Creativity, musicality, experience, big ears:) and feeling.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: The center of my work is to satisfy my clients wishes. So after listening to her/his rough mix I like to know which sound the client is looking for. To talk about all the details is so essential. My goal is to transfer this imagination into a awesome mix.
