Bebé is an gem amongst many in the world of music. She was incredibly patient when it came to mixing my album and updated me during the whole process of editing, mixing and mastering. The finish product was incredible and much better than I could ever imagine. Her attention to detail is another part of what makes her such a marvelous artist to work with.

Interview with Bebé

  1. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  2. A: Digital because only true professionals can hear the difference, little Jimmy with his air pods does not give two pennys about sound quality on his iPhone.

  3. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  4. A: My clients' needs come first no matter how long it takes.

  5. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  6. A: I love hearing, discovering, and developing new sounds and musicians.

  7. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  8. A: Question: How fast can you mix/master this? Answer: How serious do you take your music career and sound?

  9. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  10. A: A lot of people think that an Audio Engineer is the same thing as a DJ.

  11. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  12. A: What do you expect to receive as a final product.

  13. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  14. A: Please be very detailed and always have a few reference tracks.

  15. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  16. A: Justin Timberlake because he's an awesome producer and the creative ideas that I could extract from a mind like his would be endless.

  17. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  18. A: More is not always the answer. Sometimes engineers feel that they need to add more processors or plugins to fix their sound when in fact, sometimes the answer is a simple one.

  19. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  20. A: Analyzing and match my client's wants and needs.

  21. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  22. A: Transparency, clearness, power, definition, and an in-your-face vocal sound.

  23. Q: What's your typical work process?

  24. A: I first listen to the bare song in it's submitted form. From there, I start to level and mix the raw content without processing any audio. Once I have a decent mix, I then start processing the audio in order to polish the final product. My job as an audio engineer is to create the best sound possible, from the direction given by my client, while preserving as much of the natural unprocessed recording as possible. A good engineer can achieve a decent mix without any type of audio processing.

  25. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  26. A: Dave Pensado, Manny Marroquin, Kanye West, Prince, Quincy Jones, Michael Jackson, Chris Brown, Justin Timberlake, Clive Davis, Beyoncé, Jaycen Joshua.

  27. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  28. A: Pop

  29. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  30. A: Mix and Mastering.
