Interview with gads6y
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Listen.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: RnB, Rap and Pop
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My ear and willingness to listen. These are indispensable when it comes to seeing an artists vision come to life.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: My toolbox is pretty deep but I’m always simply looking to listen and bring whatever can help make it happen. I’ve worked as a guitarist, produced full tracks, co-written songs, mixed and mastered. It all depends on what the project requires.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Daniel Lanois is a big inspiration. His work with U2 is particularly inspiring in terms of stretching the limits of what a guitar can be. The subtle nuances in the way he shapes tones, creating soundscapes rather than just flashy guitar, licks is a lesson in minimalism and what it means to be a producer, not just a guitarist.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Guitar has always been my calling card. Working primarily with rnb/rap artists over the years, that role has extended to production and writing. Every project requires something different and often I’ll end up fine tuning effects, arranging and writing parts to complement an artist/producers vision.
