Interview with Mike Gianni

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: Simply working on improving my craft, as always.

  3. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  4. A: For now, digital, as I am away from my home "studio" where I have more analog pieces of equipment.

  5. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  6. A: That I am limited to one style of music. I am always looking forward to work on anything, not just hip hop. Whether it's blues, rock, jazz, orchestrations, island type music, etc.

  7. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  8. A: I'm an aspiring audio engineer. I'm currently in college, but I am looking to start in the field ASAP.

  9. Q: How would you describe your style?

  10. A: My style consists of blending and twisting plenty of types of music together. Dark music, bouncy songs, "hype" songs, sad sounds, bizarre, etc. Doing this creates many different feelings while listening, almost a new sub-genre.

  11. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  12. A: Earthgang, their style of eeriness, strangeness and just being different matches up great with mine.

  13. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  14. A: The music I mainly create is on the hip hop side of things. Writing in minor keys is often my go-to.

  15. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  16. A: Being able to adapt and learn new techniques, instruments, and styles.

  17. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  18. A: I bring plenty of experimental and obscure ideas to the table during production, as well as post-production.

  19. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  20. A: I'm really inspired by the artists signed to Dreamville, as well as plenty of other musicians. Also heavily inspired by different film and TV artists, mainly cartoons.
