I create music that has gathered over three million streams across online streaming services & has been featured on Spotify's Global Viral 50 chart, Apple Music Beats1 Radio, BBC1 Radio & CBC Music. Other Spotify playlists my music has been featured on include Viral Hits, Pop All Day, Electrindie, Fresh Finds & Alternative R&B.

Hey! I'm a producer & audio engineer specializing in creating fresh, and unique pop music. I am capable of creating music for you from scratch or taking anything from your simplest idea/demo and developing it into a full-scale commercial production. I will work on your project at whatever stage it is currently in!

I will mix and/or master your project regardless of if it was produced by me or by someone else.

I have 10 years of experience in both music production/composition, audio mixing and mastering, and am also a classically trained pianist with a Bachelor of Fine Art degree from York University with a focus in music. While I specialize in pop and electronic music, I am perfectly comfortable working within other genres such as house, R&B, hip-hop, indie, alternative and rock. I work with both solo artists, and bands. I also compose for film, television and advertising.

I love helping clients reach their creative visions and goals and having them walk away happy with their project.

  8. Review by Easy Sheperd

Michael is very patient, fast and talented. I listened to his mix for another artist and was blown away by how modern, balanced and unique it sounded! Having experience with mixing & mastering myself, I was in awe of the technical and sonic flourishes included in the record, quickly contacted him and am happy I did.

I had struggled to get one of my record's mixed by others and doubted that it would ever be complete but after having given it to Michael, he brought my song to life and I am grateful for the experience. I highly recommend him (and within any genre)!

Interview with Michael Goldchain

  1. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  2. A: My strongest skill is my ear. The one biggest skill I have learned through my career as a live musician and music producer is how to listen. Without that, I would have nothing! Through listening I can hear, feel, analyze, and imagine both where a song is, and where it should go. After that I would say it's the 20 years of education as a piano player in both classical and jazz, and my 10 years of experience in music production :)

  3. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  4. A: Through over 10 years of education and experience as both a live musician as well as music producer, I have learned that the most important elements of modern music are vibe, movement, and balance. I want music to make you feel, make you move, and feel alive!

  5. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  6. A: Most of the work I do is production, mixing, and mastering although I also occasionally do composition for advertising, film and television.

  7. Q: What's your typical work process?

  8. A: When mixing and mastering, I start by organizing my session; grouping instruments, creating busses and colour coding all tracks. I will send an initial mix/master and then accept notes on revisions which I will then implement into the session. My turnover rate is fast and I am flexible with notes. Production is very similar, I'll either start with an idea or work off one that is given to me and then build and arrange the song.

  9. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  10. A: Working from my studio in the heart of downtown Toronto, I work in a treated room with a pair of Focal Twin6 Studio Monitors, a Universal Audio Apollo 16 audio interface, and a 2019 Macbook Pro, equipped with Logic Pro X, Pro Tools 10, and Ableton 10 running advanced VSTs including Spectrasonics Omnisphere 2, Native Instruments Komplete 12, Izotope Neutron 2, Ozone 8, and RX 7. I also have a Dave Smith Prophet 12 synthesizer, Nord Stage 2 digital piano, KRK Rokit 5 studio monitors, and Audio Technica ATH-M50 headphones.
