Interview with Liam Bajic

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: I've got four tracks in the works for myself, one mixing job, one club gig coming up and a couple in the horizon.

  3. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  4. A: There are plenty out there that are great at what they do. You need to decide as the client, where you want to spend your moeny!

  5. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  6. A: Analog has that warm vintage sound you can't really emulate with digital. However, Digital is affordable, convenient and damn right amazing.

  7. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  8. A: My promise is that you'll get something you're happy with! I will work with you to create your vision and get your songs to where you want them to go, there is no promise that they'll be signed or played on the radio. However, there is a promise that you'll be satisfied of the results!

  9. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  10. A: It's music, it's my passion! I love what I do and could never see myself doing anything else.

  11. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  12. A: People think that music is easy. It isn't... It's all about subjectivity and there is no easy way to get to the top, it takes years of hard work. However, everyone can always use some help along the way!

  13. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  14. A: 1) Who inspires you musically 2) Reference tracks for the music you want to mix/create? 3) What do you want for this song? (Played on radio shows, signed to a label) 4) Timeframe 5) Budget

  15. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  16. A: I'm here doing the exact same thing as you. I'm no big shot international superstar, but I want to be and so do you! So I understand where you're coming from, your wants and needs. Just ask and I'll be happy to help you achieve your vision!

  17. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  18. A: I was previously in Information Technology. I have a bachelor degree. However, after years of work experience in different positions. I realised the corporate lifestyle wasn't for me, too many politics. The only thing I want to do is follow my dream and do the thing I love.

  19. Q: How would you describe your style?

  20. A: BIG! Big Bass, Big Energy, Big Emotion!

  21. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  22. A: Andrew Bayer, the master mind. Listen to his tracks to understand why I want to work with him!

  23. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  24. A: Saturation is one of the most important pieces of the puzzle to creating a spectacular sounding track. A lot of new guys miss this and don't push their sounds hard enough. Trust me, I'll show you.

  25. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  26. A: Progressive Trance and Hard Bass. However, I can do pretty much everything!

  27. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  28. A: Definitely my Teaching & Mixing.

  29. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  30. A: I bring my own creativity, it's a difficult question. I am inspired by so many artists out there that I sort of bring a little of everything from them, as well as my own personal tastes. I just want to make some god damn good music for you all ;)

  31. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  32. A: KRK VXT6 Studio Monitors and a whole lot of VSTs. They're the way of the future, definitely want to grab some Analog gear though!

  33. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  34. A: Above & Beyond, Andrew Bayer, Moon Boots, Drezo, Tchami, Luttrell, Boom Jinx.

  35. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  36. A: The most common type of work I do for my clients, is Mixing and teaching Electronic Music Production. I want to ensure that my clients have a clean and tight sounding mix whilst being able to achieve that on their own. I have produced some tracks in the past also for clients.
