Interview with Madelene Ward
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Vocal recording for producers & songwriters.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I generally love all 'natural musicians' - Meaning, artists that produce and write great music without to much production and a strong meaning/definition behind the track.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I run Pro Tools on my current iMac - With my professionally set up vocal booth to lay down the vocals.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Generally, I want to talk to the producer/songwriter etc to get a vibe of the song. As a vocalist, I want to know the definitions of the songs and what they mean to them to get the real emotion, connect myself & record this with true emotion. I then spend around 4-5 hours running through the track time after time, and then start the recording process.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Raw emotion, real tone & real quality.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Vocal & Songwriting
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Folk/Indie, Country, Americana & Indie Pop/Pop.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Let the artists talent speak for itself.
