Eyal Satat on SoundBetter

Founder of Oakland Drum School, passionate session drummer with 20+ years recording drums for top artists.

I offer live drum multi-tracks which I record through 16 channels in my professional music studio in Oakland, CA

I can make the drums sound:
- Rocky, Big and Punchy
- Dry, Tight and Dancy
- Dirty, Groovy and Funky
- Fast, Furious and Punky
- Clean, Polished and Pop

I've been doing it for over a decade and I specialize in finding the right beat, drum parts and drum sound that will fit your song. I take my time to listen carefully to all the little details in your song so I'll be able to make it sound like i'm your drummer and we're playing for years together. My main goal is to elevate your song and bring it to the next level!

My gear includes:
- Vintage drum sets (70's Rogers, 70's Ludwig, Gretsch)
- Vintage and modern snares (Ludwig, Pearl, Gretsch, Tama, Bell Brass)
- Many cymbals from dark to bright, vintage to modern (Zildjian, Meinl, Bosphorus, Sabian, Paiste)
- All kinds of mics (Matched pair of AKG 414, Beyerdynamic M160, Shure SM81, SM57, pair of KSM137, Beta52, FET47 clone, Vintage Electro Voice, CAD M179 for toms, Ribbons mics)

I record to Universal Audio Apollo and use many kinds of preamps to get different tones and textures.

I will deliver raw tracks as well as "mixed" tracks so you can hear my vision for the drum sound.

Eyal did great work and got a nice take the first time through on my track. A lot of great performance elements and thoughtful work overall.

  2. Review by Clint C.

Eyal took this song to an entirely new level with his work today! Always professional, always bringing his best! Five stars every single time.

  3. Review by Tony V.

Another great job by Eyal! This one was a little tricky as there were unusual instrumental breaks in the middle of the song and the end, with a different rhythm than the rest of the song, but he nailed it. Song sounds much better now! As always the communication was great and Eyal is a pleasure to work with (energetic, kind, professional and works fast too).

  4. Review by Tony V.

Eyal replaced a drum loop on a song of mine that had three parts and he really nailed it! All three parts have a different drum beat now and it turned the tune into a much better song. Communication was great throughout the process and Eyal is a joy to work with. Highly recommended!

If you're looking for a real artist Eyal is the drummer you're looking for. At least he fully understood Insane Blue's project and I feel him as a band member. I am sure this was just the first of many songs we'll do together. By the way.. He nailed on the first try. Great job, very timely, fully reliable, a ++++

Working with Eyal has been absolutely amazing. He is a fantastic drummer, one of the nicest people I’ve worked with and super professional. Eyal delivered everything fast and I couldn’t be happier with the results. He also customizes his setup for, and focuses on your project only until he is finished. I will definitely be contacting Eyal in the future for more projects. Highly recommend working with him.

I can't compliment this guy enough. Five stars every time!

Heed this review and tell that other drummer you will get back to them. Eyal follows what you specifically ask of him, but he goes further and adds magic. All of my experiences with Eyal have resulted in properly isolated and mic'd drums and percussion, you can keep or leave what you like... I happen to like it all because it has sounded natural each time. It flows. There are many good drummers. But this one is humble and goes extra consistently. Don't hire him too much because I need him!! :)

  9. Review by Randall H.

Repeat customer here. Absolutely outstanding musician and friendly professional. Eyal also goes the extra mile and sends expertly processed drums that can be dropped straight into your mix! However, if you're into doing it all yourself, the raw stems are super clean and ready for anything you can throw at them. Great feel on multiple styles, he has an ear for adding subtle details or suggesting edits that will make the song pop.

  10. Review by Tony V.

Another awesome job by Eyal! Always super easy to work with, great communication all along the process. This was a funky song (last song we did was more hard rocking) and what he came up with fit perfectly and made the song sound even better. I had recorded the guitar, bass and vocals to a drum machine, but with the changes he added, you'd never know that! Highly recommended to anyone who needs a great drummer.

  11. Review by Clint C.

Eyal is so much fun to work with! He really cares about the music and helps to get everything to a level higher than I could’ve imagined. Super professional and just a genuinely great guy!
I highly recommend him if you’re looking for a creative and capable drummer!

  12. Review by Tony V.

My song had decent midi drums on it, but Eyal took the song to another level when I asked him to replace those with his own performance! I really like the end result. Great communication throughout the process. I wasn't sure I'd like the percussion additions after I approved the drum kit performance (since it's a heavy rocking song), but the percussion tracks work very well with it! I recommend Eyal to anyone who needs drums on their song!

  13. Review by Sean M.

Eyal came through again with another great performance and production! Hi-hat work is outstanding and the overall groove is tight. I will definitely be using Eyal again.

  14. Review by Tony V.

I've worked with Eyal on several songs now and it's always a pleasure. He is easy to communicate with, provides timely updates on progress, sends high quality tracks back (LOTS of them!), and the performance is always excellent. My songs get taken to the next level with his drums added. I also like that he provides the raw files and his own processed files. The processed files are great to immediately create rough mixes, and the raw files provide great flexibility for final mixdown of the song.

  15. Review by Clint C.

Eyal was so much fun to work with! He is friendly and open to suggestions and super talented! Exactly the sound and style my production team was going for with this project. I'll be contacting him again soon so book him up while you can!!!

Another great performance and production from Eyal. Thank you!

  17. Review by Sean M.

I asked for a lot and Eyal delivered again! Outstanding drumming and great sonic recordings! Thank you Eyal!

  18. Review by Randall H.

Incredible versatility, technical skill, and a producer's ear. Highest recommendation for sure! He really listened to the song and got into the smallest editorial details so the song shines from the drums and percussion on up. Dead on with the click. Can help you sort out things if you're not sure. Give him a reference song, and he'll adapt the feel and style so you get a really epic, professional production.

  19. Review by Jason M.

Eyal does right by my songs. He matches his drums to them. Just when you think it's good, he adds percussion and it gets even better. Always arrives nicely mixed, and always fits the song. Thank you!

  20. Review by Sean M.

Eyal did it again. The process was super easy and the turnaround time met my expectations. Eyal is an excellent drummer, I highly recommend him to anyone.

  21. Review by Jason M.

Eyal is an outstanding drummer who knew exactly what to do on my newest song. Very experienced, and his numerous microphones give many options for mixing.

  22. Review by Sean M.

Eyal did an outstanding job recording drums for my song. He was very easy to communicate with and open to my thoughts on how the drums should sound…… and then he took it to another level! The playing is way beyond my expectations, very musical, intentional, and with great tones and recording technique across the entire drum kit. I am very grateful to have found Eyal.

  23. Review by Jason M.

Don't read any more reviews. Just try this drummer. Eyal is a raw talent who is prompt and professional every time. I have rigorously tested him on fast songs, and again on slow sincere songs that have to sound just right. I respect the years he has put in to master the drums. When other kids were playing X-Box, Eyal was drums. You can tell right away. You'll know in roughly the first 4 seconds you hear your song. Good mics, good placement, sensible choices that match what you've written with that little extra special unexpected.

"The toms have never sounded better than that!"

I just added a pair of CAD M179 which are doing MAGIC to toms. It just make them big, thunderous and with a lot of tone and depth. I highly recommend you guys to check out those workhouse mics.

Super stoked to use them in my next session!

I got myself a vintage 70s Beyerdynamic M160 for Christmas.

This microphone was used to create the sound of "When The Levee Breaks" drum beat.
Though it's not the same but it definitely gave me loads of inspiration! Happy new year everyone!
