What does Mastering do?
- Well, it's the last step of the audio production and it adds the polish, just like in films where they add color correction. It adjusts the sound for the best quality and balance where it will sound good on many different playback devices like an iPhone, a computer, a stereo car speaker, the radio, the TV, etc. It kind of unifies your album and make it have this sonic signature. It gives all the tracks even volume so you can just listen to the album from beginning to end. Another thing is that it eliminates unwanted distortion so you can crank it up and still have good sound quality.
