Endorse JOEYNEJoey made my music sound top quality, really friendly and punctual, great to work with and also comes to the table with game-changing ideas on production and arrangement. Joey helped my ideas come to life and made the process so easy. I couldn't recommend him enough.
Joey is one of the hardest working producers I’ve had the pleasure of working with. His dedication to moving forward, growing and progressing is inspiring and unmatched by many. He has a strong grasp both inside and outside of the box. Joey has a masterful ear for writing catchy melodies that will be stuck in your head, and has the knowledge to write in a variety of musical genres. When producing, Joey is quick and efficient; working to get the results you’re looking for right then and there. I would recommend Joey for any artists looking to take the music to the next level.
Interview with JOEYNE
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Less is more. With quality recording and arrangement you don't need a ton of layers or fancy production tricks to create a great song. You can only make a song so complicated before it becomes undigestable.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Pop, R&B, and Hip-hop.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Taste. I like to think that the decisions I make in regards to mixing and production are always to serve what the song needs, not my own ego.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring that final level of polish to what the artist has already created. My job is to give you a product that is as close to what you hear in your head as possible. Knocking drums, a clear upfront vocal, and spacious melodic instruments around all both of those.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: With mixing leveling always comes first. I want to get everything in the right space to start adding EQ and compression. After that comes balancing the drums and vocal, I want both to be as in your face as possible without being overpowering. Then making space for everything through EQ and compression and gluing the whole thing together.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I run on a 2020 Macbook Pro with Ableton and an Apollo Duo. A mix of Fabfilter, Waves, Slate, and UAD plug-ins always come in handy to get the sound the artist or myself has in our head.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Russ, illmind, Mixedbyali, Boi1da, and 40 are some of my favorite producers. The level of depth and color they get in their production and mixes is something I always try to channel. I love the amount of simplicity and how it leaves space for the artist to shine, while still creating interesting and authentic production underneath the artist.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Mixing and production is my most common work I get hired for. My these 2 types of work are my favorite to dive into with my own process and I love getting to help artists move their projects to a professional level.
