Hi I'm Matt and i'm a music producer, composer, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter. Over the years I have written music for film, advertising, video & artists. My biggest accomplishment is producing the charting debut album for alternative act MyLyricalMind. I love creating music that tells a story an has an emotional edge.
I'm a music producer, composer and songwriter. My first foray into the world of music production was when I was 17 where I recorded my first EP on a Bose 4 track recorder. Luckily it's a little more technical now.
I started Glowing Empire Music 4 years ago as a record label for my own music endeavours mainly with my main and most successful act, MyLyricalMind. During this time I wrote a charting EP and Album and a number of charting singles.
After 7 years of writing, producing, performing & touring my own songs and writing songs for various publishing houses and other artists, I decided to go and turn my passion into my vocation. Since then I have written music for Film, Advertising, Youtube and various other media projects.
I work out of my home studio south of Manchester in a lovely town called Knutsford. I am also an experienced musician and I play guitar, piano, bass, drums and I also sing.
My biggest strength is that the ability to turn any story or idea into a piece of music from scratch. I specialise in creating big emotive sounding pop & ambient songs, but I can turn my hand at any genre.
I offer the following services:
BESPOKE MUSIC PRODUCTION FOR ANY PROJECT
FILM SCORE COMPOSITION
BEAT MAKING

Interview with Matthew Wood
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I would say my strongest skill in production is my ability to bring pretty much any instrument into the mix. You just want a single acoustic guitar track, I can do it... You want an epic string led film score... I can do it... You want an alternative electric guitar driven rock song... I can do it.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I like to think I bring my own personal touch to every song. I like creating songs that evoke emotion and that are often quite ambient, and orchestral in nature.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I like to get to the know the person, people or project as much as possible before I start. As a producer you are making music to tell a story, often another person's story, so it's important to know what you are writing music for. I often ask the client to provide me with 3 or 4 reference tracks beforehand so I can get a grasp of which genre and direction I need to head in. Once I get a grasp of the overall music direction I start to create the piece. Feedback is very important so I try to get a rough mix over to the client before mixing a final version. After any revisions have been made I create a final mix and master of the track, and send over the files in the requested format.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I currently work out of my modest home studio which I have built up over the years. Software I use Logic Pro X to record and produce all of my work, this includes custom plugins. It allows me to add a huge variety of high quality sounds, synth, samples and instruments to any mix. It also allows me to mix and master songs using a variety of great plugins. I run this on Mac OS High Sierra. Hardware I have a selection of great instruments that I use for recording. I don't however have live drum recording capability, I program drums using Logic Pro X which has thousands of excellent drum sounds. - 2 x Electric guitars - Fender Strat and a Les Paul - 1 x Behringer Condenser Mic - 1 x Shure SM57 Dynamic Microphone - 1 x Faith Venus Acoustic guitar - 2 x M-Audio Midi Keyboards - Fender Jazz Bass guitar - 2 x Rokit studio monitors - 1 x Marshall Vintage amp - 1 x Vox Modelling amp - 1 x Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 audio interface
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I listen to a wide variety of music so this is a difficult question, but here is what I am listening to right now: - The National - M83 - Sonn - Ben Howard - Beowulf - Daughter
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I don't think I have a common type of work at the moment, I am creating music for business, film and artists right now. Most clients want music that complements the project and helps to tell the story.
