Niko Xidas on SoundBetter

Fresh, LOUD, Spotify-ready mixes. Excellent communication. Friendly approach. Guaranteed results.

** FREE TEST MIX!** You have nothing to lose.
I will do a FREE test mix of a section of your song and if you like it, we can proceed to the full song!

MY GEAR AND APPROACH:
I will turn around an initial mix for you within 48 HOURS and offer up to 3 mix revisions after that. It is always possible to do more than 3 revisions with my hourly rate applied.

I have been traveling between Nashville, Los Angeles and Chicago for over 10 years for this work, so I have invested in a mobile mix rig using top of the line plugins (Okesound, FabFilter, Waves, Soundtoys). I also tune vocals using by hand AutoTune8- please let me know if this is a service you need!

I am typically hired to work on pop/alt pop/R&B songs that feature an in-your-face lead vocal and a pop textured backing track. I'll be honest if I am not the right fit for your project and will help to steer you in the right direction.

MY BACKGROUND AND CREDITS:
I have found success in the world of TV and Film where my productions have been featured in shows on Adult Swim and HBO Max (Blade Runner: Black Lotus), Amazon Prime (The Expanse) and others.

Send me an email through 'Contact' button above and I'll get back to you asap.

Niko is an incredibly talented and precise creator. Having a background in drums/percussion, he really brings a unique rhythmic and melodic approach to the music he works on. The sonic picture he helps create is technical, artistic, detail oriented, and cohesive which, in my opinion, makes for an inspiring end product. Handing off music to someone else to help bring to the finish line can be difficult and you couldn’t be in better hands.

Niko really is the best. His careful attention to feel, commitment to the art, and lighthearted spirit make him an ideal collaborator. Only great things to say about this one.

Niko is an incredible producer. I’ve been working with him for years and there is no one else I trust more to bring my visions to life. He’s been communicative, thoughtful and timely on every project. Grateful to have worked with him and hope to continue to do so!

Interview with Niko Xidas

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: I'm currently in production on a new project with my brother Jordan Xidas, and simultaneously mixing an album for a new off-broadway musical. Additionally I work as a staff writer for a TV & film production studio based in Santa Monica, CA.

  3. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  4. A: I'm an in the box guy (digital). For years I've been investing in gear that allows me to easily travel with my work and accomplish editing/mixing tasks from almost anywhere. I DO use a lot of analog modeled plugins tho! 😘

  5. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  6. A: Make sure to record your vocals in a dead, dry environment. Vocal shields and pop filters are your friend, but if those aren't an option recording into a closet full of hanging clothes will do the trick! A tight, dry vocal will allow your mix engineer the flexibility to compress it to the front of the mix without bringing up the ambience of the room with it.

  7. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  8. A: I tend to work on pop songs that feature an in-your-face lead vocal, and I often work with clients who need my production skills to fill in the track in certain sections. I'm usually hired to add supplemental drum programming, percussion and synth textures.

  9. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  10. A: I think you can feel the energy behind an artist's work. I'm the most inspired by artists/bands who are channeling a loving message to the world and delivering it honestly/authentically. Talking about it is hard, but hearing it is easy! Coldplay, Kacey Musgraves, Harry Styles, Lorde... cant find an album I don't like by those gems.
