Interview with B7-Studio
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: Every project we worked on are special to us because each musician are different and unique so it's a privilege working with various talents worldwide.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: We are working with a new artist from Brazil who's trying to make waves now.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: For now we are new here and know no one so, we have no comment about that "for now" sorry.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Analogue any day because of it's warmth and saturation but digital is also great making life easier and more mobile.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: We stand corrected. We will always deliver sonic quality, radio ready, commercial mixes and mastering that will compete with other famous great songs out there and pave ways for you. B7-Studio: Making you sound better!
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: We love the fact of meeting and working with different people round the world, listening to different musics and being part of peoples growth and paths to success.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Can you make my voice sound like Michael Jackson? Whossp! Sorry client NO and the reason is MJ's a different voice texture and range, he used a different microphone, mic press and etc those factors matters before thinking of sounding like MJ. haha.....
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Some people actually think mixing and mastering isn't necessary because after making that killer beat and dropping that killer voice without a professional mix and master the song is great YES! But, there's lot to mixing and mastering which we won't want to going fully into details now but note: We do just more than pulling-up faders and adding just expensive processors to your music.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: 1) Why are you doing music (fun or real business)? 2) What's your goal? 3) Where do you see your self in 5years time? 4) What do you do for a living "if not music"??? 5) Do you know the difference between good sounding song "mixed and mastered" and vise-vasa?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: It is important you know what we do as mixing and mastering engineer and if not, please research online to get inclined. Some prospective clients we've meet just think after recording their vocals on the beat, the producer could just pull-up faders and balance things and burn to a CD, that's it. No! it's much more than that. As mixing and mastering engineers, we do justice to your music and take your music from the level you think it's sounding good to making it sounding the BEST competing or sounding more like already known/famous song you've been hearing on radio for long. So please, hire a professional mixing and mastering engineer to add that black magic/art to your music. Haha...
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Am so certain our mixing engineer would go with his MacBook Pro, Adam monitors, Audio interface, AKG microphone and headset, which all fits in his logging bag and ready to fly.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: The mixing engineer at B7-Studio have been mixing for the past 12/13years while our mastering engineer also close.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: We really don't have much to say about our style because the clients brings in its genre of music with requirements and we deliver based on that beyond expectations.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: We would like to work with Rihanna and Justin Bieber because it would create more exposure for us and we can actually learn also because, we live to learn till we die.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: What we have to say is you can never make a bad recording song its best so, you have to make sure your recording process is good and your recorded content is already sounding good and we take it from there to make a HIT for you.
