Luke has a rare gift of being able to combine a deep technical knowledge with a high level of musicality. He always manages to pull out the essence of the song through his production and mixing, and has had valuable input in ideas for enhancing the arrangements.

I've had the pleasure to work with Luke on various mix sessions over the years. His attention to detail, and passion for creating intricate soundscapes from sometimes quite bare starting points, has always taken my work to another level. If you want your track to sound like a record - perhaps you are struggling to glue everything together - then I can't recommend him enough.

I have also tracked drums with Luke producing / engineering, always great fun to work with, and the drum sound is always fantastic.

Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Bread or Butter?
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: To co - create
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: I turn volumes up and down. I'm a technician - in part true but it really is about emotion and expression.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Do you like the sound and feel of their records? Can you differentiate between an amazing artist and an amazing recording/production?
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Bjork - she is like a little magic instrument from a far away galaxy.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Production style is often just fashion - learn to adapt and try out your own original ideas. Non of the great cornerstone records sound like imitations of something else.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I love many types of music and do not limit myself to set genres. I do use various alias names - c65 for Ninja Tune and so on. I enjoy creating hybrid live/electronic/sample based projects, the 'Lazy Habits' albums are a good example of this kind of production.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Perception
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Vulcan ears, instinct and guidance. I am here to create something special.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: It depends on the project. A shared vision between artist, producer and mix engineer is crucial. Once this is established then we can create/finish.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Current workflow and production trends often favour taking a demo and building/writing into that. My role is often as a "finisher". This translates into whatever it takes to finish the record, that is what I do. Sample replacement, editing, layering in introcate rhythm and more. My clients really see me as a mix engineer/producer.
