I'm the topliner you go to for catchy indie lo-fi vocal melodies with a subtle jazz influence. Everything from the dreamy, hypnotic and washed out to sultry and raw vocal style. Vivid lyrics with descriptions that appeal to the senses.
A great lyric with the right melody gives me the chills, and I'm all about giving that back out to the world.
People often compare my voice to Alex Turner from Arctic Monkeys, and sometimes to Kevin Parker from Tame Impala.

If you watched the music video, you saw that I also play guitar. Let me know if you're interested in indie or neo-soul guitar.

Endorse Michael GlinesI've worked with Michael on various projects and he always delivers! He's a great singer/guitar player and has a true passion for bringing your song to the next level.
Michael helped Embrace Forever finish our album. Brought a violin for some special flourishes and helped add vocal harmonies wherever he could. The finished product is a far more lush experience because Michael was a part of it.
I had the pleasure to play with Michael in Brazil , he is an amazing person and very talented.. he had great own musics and had huge knowledge on how to arrange the musics in a band...really recommend him and hope to play with him again soon..
Michael and I played music together through 3 bands over the course of roughly a decade. There’s a reason for that, I couldn’t tell you a more passionate and incredibly soul driven musician he is, and fun as hell to play with. He songwriting is top notch and has been one of the biggest inspirations to me as a songwriter myself. I find myself cranking his music often at full volume because I love it so much! Michael Glines is truly a legend and master of his craft.
Michael is a phenomenal guitarist- hands down. His playing is immaculate and he knows how to pull from a myriad of styles. From working with him, I know that not only can he play, but also, he knows how to properly record his tracks (Vocals as well as guitar). Great guy, very talented. 10/10 would recommend to a friend.
Michael is a fantastic guitarist. Versatile, creative, and uber-talented, he'll make a GREAT addition on your tracks. What are you waiting for?
Interview with Michael Glines
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Indie pop topline writing and vocals.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Usually I listen to the track that the producer wants me to sing or play on and try to get references to go off. Then I write a part and send demos until the producer approves. When they approve, I track final lead vocals and harmonies in my vocal booth.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I run Ableton, Pro Tools, and Logic on an iMac through my Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 interface and KRK Rockit 6 monitors. I have a Telefunken TF29 tube mic for vocals and a Shure Beta 57 for guitars. I run all my guitars through a pretty extensive collection of pedals and a Fender Princeton Reverb clone.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I mainly get hired as a topline writer/vocalist for EDM tracks and a guitarist for rock and pop tracks.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Faye Nightingale for female topline vocals, Joseph Schmidt for synths and production, Lynz for topline vocals and mixing.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both! This is an old discussion but still fun. If you're a pure analog person, you're an idealist and just not looking at the full picture. If you're a pure digital person, you probably just haven't had much experience with analog gear. Either way, if you're a purist on either end, you're just missing out. When it comes to guitar tone, real tube amps and mics beat digital amps any day, but if you need a guitar tracked in one hour or less, I'll probably just use a plugin. For mixing I actually don't own any analog gear yet, but I will soon!
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: A Telefunken TF29, my Hagstrom HJ800, my Fender Princeton Reverb, my pedalboard, Sure Beta 57.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: If we're talking generally, I'd love to work with any artist that works hard on their own craft and communicates clearly, kindly, and decisively with the people they work with. If we're talking about like specific super successful artists, I'd like to work with Kevin Parker from Tame impala, just to see his production process.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Keep working! Don't judge a song until you're finished with it.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Josh Carter from Phantogram, Kevin Parker (Tame Impala), Nigel Godrich, Thom Yorke, Max Martin, The Weeknd, D'Angelo, Still Woozy, Al Green, Led Zeppelin, Beau Diakow.
