Robert G Vavra on SoundBetter

Specializing in accurate representation of artist's work, with authenticity as a priority and excellent vision communication as key to success

Robert Vavra is an audio engineering, music and arts business practitioner with a weekly local newsletter titled Arts Focus Chicago

He‘s lived in the city proper since 2000 except for two years in Boston for sound design education.

He grew up with music, singing and songwriting in the family, and received his first guitar with lessons from his father in 2001, the same year he began studying classical violin, music theory and orchestral performance at Chicago’s Merit School of Music Conservatory downtown

After releasing his first self written, recorded and produced EP from home in 2007, he recorded and mixed albums for friends indie bands on a 16-track Roland V-Studio 1680

After going to school for two years in Boston, he took time off from formal sound education to record local Chicago artists, where he ran his first nonprofit recording, distribution and events company, culminating in a well attended pay-what-you-can show with quality local talent, breaking even

After accumulating this experience, he went back to school in 2013 to finish his studies in audio design & production with a minor in music business & management at Columbia College Chicago, working part time and graduating in 2017

In late 2017 early 2018, he interned with Fox at The Fox Den Chicago, and took a few sessions interning at VSOP during which he began his business RGV Audio
