Interview with ACR Records
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: We love the acoustic album "Faith and Family Matters" by "Scott H Long" we recorded that in our studios and produced the entire album. It was fun and a greak folk americana album.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: We are working on an album for "annabella" who's current singles are "Trust and 11/10"
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I do not at this time.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital, is is how our shop is setup and we love the flexability it offers our clients.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: We will produce a song you love!
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: We just love making music! It lasts forever, once it is out there you can always go back and listen and know you helped create that.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: They typically ask if we can add a certain instrument like guitar or bass or drums. Of course we say, Heck Yeah!
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That a client needs to be a gret singer or musician to have their song produced, we can work with anyone wth any skill level.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: We like to know what sound they are looking for in their music, what instruments they want to add and hightlight and what is it they do and don't like about the song they want to work on.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: We love making music, and I would want to be sure they found a provider that feels the same way.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: 4 Acoustic Guitars and a wooden drum.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been a professional musician for 35 years and I have worked in technology engineering for just as long. they go together well, especially in todays production environment where most recording is done on a computer.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I have a strong work ethic and my team is very profesional.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Ed Sheeran, he is just an awsome singer songwriter that made it in Pop and now he has people dancing.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Know when to stop. sometimes less is more. Don't fill up your track with too much stuff.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: We work on singer songwriter / indie, POP and Hip Hop.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Producing would be our strongest skill, taking ideas and notes and bringing them to life.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: We bring as much or as little as needed, sometimes a song just needs some good mixing to bring it to life and sometimes we only have some lyrics and a melody and from that we can add structure, rhythms, a bridge, a chorus and a beat. It is not what we bring to a song, it is where we bring the song, we bring it home ...
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: It just depends, the more the client brings to the table the faster and easier the process can be. Whatever they bring, we try to understand where the client wants to end up and what the journey is like in their eyes or ears. We want the music to be the artists and not our version fo the artist.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: We have a freestanding building on a small hobby farm in Macon GA. We have a sound booth, control room, live room and a lounge. We record on the Logic Pro platform.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I love Ed Sheeran and the diversity in his song writing and performing skills.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Song production and mixing. We typically take an artists vocal track and guitar or key track and build from that. Artists come to our studio if they are local or send us their audio files to work with.
