Interview with HQ Vocoding

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: Working on an acid jazz album

  3. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  4. A: We would say analog but sometimes digital is what you really need in some part of the process.

  5. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  6. A: Our biggest effort and to repeat each part of the process until them and us are satisfied with the final result.

  7. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  8. A: We love to collaborate in someone else songs and that's why we take a big effort to deliver our best in each track

  9. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  10. A: Most people think that vocoding is just as easy as downloading a free vst vocoder and play, but achieving a high profesional sound requires a very hard process that we are completely able to do

  11. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  12. A: Any artist that loves to work hard and enjoy all the process. We love what we do and we are crazy about each detail.

  13. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  14. A: The secret of any production are "details"

  15. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  16. A: We love funk and electro-funk music but we can handle several related styles as well (Pop, R&B, HipHop, Disco, etc)

  17. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  18. A: We offer very attractive sounds to give a modern approach to your productions

  19. Q: What's your typical work process?

  20. A: We receive a reference track and we create vocoder lines. Besides we can track lines (and lyrics) created by clients. The workflow is defined by clients, we have several approaches to achieve what clients are waiting for.

  21. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  22. A: We have our own studio with an Universal Audio Apollo interface, Pro Tools 12, Apple computer and a UAD Satellite System (SSL, Neive 1073, LN1176, Teletronix, Distressor, Lexicon, EMT, etc). For vocoding we use: - Analog Vocoders (including in our opinion the best vocoder ever!) - Digital Vocoders - Analog Synths - Digital Synths - V.A. Synths - First class microphone (Neumann)

  23. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  24. A: Zapp, Herbie Hancock, Daft Punk, Chromeo, Breakbot, etc.

  25. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  26. A: We track vocoder lines to enhance songs. From short vocoder backing vocals to complete arrangements or lead vocals.

It is a cover of a Daft Punk song

I was the interpreter only of the vocoder lines recorded in this cover. No commercial use of this material will be made. We just want to show one of the vocoder sounds we can achieve in this production
