Interview with Leo Antoniucci
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Creativity is something you can't buy for yourself at supermarket, or something you can learn. People like me are here just help who have less ideas or creativities. This is not something to be ashamed of. There are a lot Steve Vai or Satriani out there in terms of guitars skills, but how many can write songs like Burn or Nothing else matter?
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Heavy metal or hard rock, but frequently to work in pop rock and progressive rock songs as well. Music is music :))
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Composition and Arrangement
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I grow up with bands like Priest, Maiden, Led Zeppelin,Pink Floyd , but at same time I keep up with the times so I have studied band like Five fingers, Bad Wolves, Alter bridge. At the end I try use all these influences to bring fresh air or a step behind according with the mood of the songs.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: My composition start with acustic guitar. Then I bring main line in Logic and start play with drum session, guitars and bass. I listen to the session dozen of times and in different moments of the day, that's help me to understand what I need to add or to remove. If the songs give me always same sensations it means it's ok, otherwise I need understand what doesn't work on it.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I use Imac 27' retina and Macbook pro 15' as stations. Logic Pro X and Pro tools as Daw. Focusrite 3rd Gen as Audio card. About software Neural archetype Nolly and Plini, Guitar Rig , Bias FX pro for guitar. Ez drummer and Ik Bass. East West Composer cloud. One Fender Strato and one Fender Squire both modified. One Gibson Studio. Acustic Ibanez AEG 50.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I love a lot of musicians and not only guitarists. That's because i don't listen just one or two genres. For this I love listen to from Pat Metheny to Steve Vai, from Roger Waters to Motley Crue. A lot of them influenced my style and my concept of songwriting.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The most common request is for guitar session or songwriting.
