I make a lot of beats and am always trying to find artists to collaborate
Contact me and let me know what type of records you're looking for
I do mostly Hip Hop, R&B, and Pop

If you have a song needing a better mix, send it my way
You'll get back a mastered, ready-to-release, competitive-sounding track

I also engineer at different studios around Houston so I can record you if you're near the city.

I'm pretty well-versed on the music business side of things too
Happy to assist with that if needed

Interview with JConn

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: Producing for artists and engineering at studios around Houston.

  3. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  4. A: What type of beats are you looking for? I almost always ask for references. I also try to get an understanding of what my client's overall musical goals are.

  5. Q: What's your typical work process?

  6. A: I'll usually start by either playing or creating a beat for an artist. Once we have that, the artist will write a song on top of it. The artist then records vocals, sends them to me and I edit those back into the track. From there, the song is mixed and mastered.

  7. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  8. A: Produce songs with artists, vocal mixing, mastering.

  9. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  10. A: Computer, Sony MDR7506 headphones, Midi Controller, Tube Tech CL1B, Sony C800G Microphone

  11. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  12. A: D.B. Ricapito's EP in 2020 "I Can't Explain It". I produced + co-wrote most of the songs. He had been on a musical hiatus for a bit when we first started working, and was looking for a new sound to sort of reinvent himself. I'm proud of the project because I feel like I really helped him find that sound.

  13. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  14. A: https://soundbetter.com/profiles/20758-chris-zurich...great dude and incredible singer if you need vocals/songwriting.

  15. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  16. A: Digital - more versatile.

  17. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  18. A: Do I offer any bulk deals if they want to do more than 1 song? Yes, that is negotiable.

  19. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  20. A: Kanye West, Max Martin, Louis Bell, The Neptunes, Timbaland, Dr. Dre

  21. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  22. A: I'll do everything I can to make sure you love the final product.

  23. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  24. A: Anyone who's talented and under the radar. I love working with artists who are still developing/finding their sound because they have freedom to try all sorts of different things.

  25. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  26. A: Hire me if you're a serious artist who wants to take your sound to the next level. I'm here to help you achieve the best possible version of your own music.

  27. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  28. A: Home studio in my apartment

  29. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  30. A: I've been producing since 2012, before that I was a Singer-songwriter and played in a band called The OverUnder. One day I decided I wanted to start recording my own music, which is how I initially started making beats. From there, production quickly became an obsession and I shifted my entire focus towards creating songs for other artists.

  31. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  32. A: That I'm only making beats.

  33. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  34. A: Connecting with people and creating something out of nothing.

  35. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  36. A: Record producing

  37. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  38. A: Hip Hop, R&B, Pop

  39. Q: How would you describe your style?

  40. A: Catchy, current sounding

  41. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  42. A: Don't be afraid to do something different.

  43. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  44. A: Versatility, polished sound
