High end digital/analog mastering studio for cd, digital & vinyl. 2x Record of The Year Award for Polish hifi magazine highfidelity.pl Works with Polish most known independent musicians, like - Michał Jacaszek, Tomasz Budzyński, Mikołaj Trzaska, Wacław Zimpel, Kuba Ziołek, Ola Bilińska etc.
Between 2001 - 2014 I produced classical music recordings, co-running Legato Recording. Those years and the outstanding musicians I was lucky to hang around with, helped me look inside myself and decide to devote my professional life to audio mastering.
I learned the art of mastering from two of the most respected engineers in the business - Howie Weinberg (Nirvana, Garbage, The Cure) and Vlado Meller (Lou Reed, Michael Buble, Celine Dion), during extensive masterclasses in Hollywood, LA.
My studio is a purpose built mastering room, with a reference monitoring system by Sveda Audio, including custom modified Dapo speakers and Wombat subwoofers, with Tannoy System 600 as a secondary set of speakers.
My mastering console is all outboard and comprises SPL's 120V mastering processors with additional units from Lynx, Z-SYS, Thermionic Culture, Bettermaker, Tascam, Yamaha and more. I work on individual tracks in real time.
My main job is a mastering service for CD, digital and vinyl-ready formats.
I can also offer a classical music montage/editing, audio restoration, tape, cassette and dat transfers, etc.

I work with Marcin for 10 years and 5 albums. I strongly recommend him. All is always on time and work is well done
Marcin finds a natural connection with the essence of the material he's working with and always finds a way to make it shine. He has mastered a number of mixes I've worked on and to me the true understanding and mastery of his art combined with an otherworldly meticulousness make him the number one mastering engineer to turn to.
Truly a mastering (and mixing) artist - very talented and creative engineer. Marcin Bocinski of Legatomastering.pl is always open to discussion, has amazing ideas and focuses on the best quality of the sound - the results are always splendid (regardless of the music style). Highly recommended!
Marcin did awesome work with the conceptual project called The ULSSS. He has an unique ability to understand the characteristics of a mastered sound material. His focus on details is an extremely rare thing. If you’re looking for a mastering artist for more challenging projects, you should try Legato Mastering.
One of the best mastering artist in Poland. I have been always fully satisfied with collaboration with Marcin - patient, open for discussion and to serve your music. The result always of BEST quality. I highly recommend Legato
Marcin Bocinski of LegatoMastering is an outstanding artist. His critical and creative input adds a counterbalance to your work. I especially recommend Legato to solo artists who, like myself, like to keep tabs on every step of the process but are willing to listen to an educated and competent opinion. Kudos!
Interview with legatomastering.pl
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Fink, Beck, Blur, Damon Albarn, Fleet Foxes, Radiohead, The Necks, Swans, Tame Impala, Paul McCartney's "Chaos & Creation in the Backyard", norwegian jazz scene scene such as Arve Henriksen, In The Country, Punkt etc.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: Eugeniusz Rudnik's "Miniatury"(Requiem Records), a large remastering project of 120 !!! small pieces by Polish Radio Experimantal Studio's most famous composer and engineer. This album was awarded Recording of The Year 2015 by polish audio magazine highfidelity.pl.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Alameda 5 - they are amazing progressive/hypnotic/rock band from Poland. I also recently finished two projects for UK's FatCat Records label.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: The best possible monitoring system. Together with my SPL PQ & Iron and Bettermaker Limiter. That's all I really need.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I was classical music recording / editing engineer for 15 years. Those years and the outstanding musicians I was lucky to hang around with, helped me look inside myself and decide to devote my professional life to audio mastering.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Bjork would be the biggest challenge. Also Arve Henriksen and The Necks. Why ? I love music which sounds like no other and relfects artist's origin in some ways.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Most is independent / alternative stuff, I like the sound of electronic music but acoustic recordings is what I love the most. As acoustic sound is deeper, more 3 dimensional and unpredictable :)
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My sensitivity and passion for music.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Well, I'm happy if the mix sounds the same but better, with more detail and definition.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: First I listen to raw mixes, make some notes, make volume adjustments if needed, sometimes I can contact the artist asking few questions about the music, the mixes etc. then I select a song which reflects the artist idea of the album, I start with that song, each song is a separate render and settings, then I listen to complete album, If I need to make any changes/revisions I recall all the settings, step by step, make adjusments, then catch a new render in realtime, then listen to all the files once again, you will not receive and files from me until I'm 100% happy with what I've done.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have hybrid digital / analog setup. I don't have tons of equipment, my philosophy is the less, the better. I have a few, carefully selected, high quality outboard processors, which I know very well and which allow me to dial the right tone. SPL 120V analog gear followed by analog/digital limiting stage, that's my preferred setup.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Most common work I do is audio mastering for cd & digital releases (including itunes, spotify etc), often with additional vinyl-ready files for cutting.
