What's going on? I am an experienced rapper/songwriter and my music has been placed on The Young and the Restless, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, All American, Fuller House, The Rookie, The Neighborhood, Claws, Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, etc. The second song in my demo reel was featured on VICELAND's Huang's World during the summer of 2017.
Eastcoast/Conscious Hip Hop is my primary specialty, but I am pretty versatile and also dabble in other genres such as Pop, R&B, and Oldies. Those samples are not available in my demo reel, but you can hear them at https://soundcloud.com/tlburt17 in the various playlists that I have available.
Allow me to help you bring your project to life. Whether you are in need of a verse, a hook, a co-write, or a full song, I can do that for you. If have you already have pre-written Hip Hop lyrics and just need me to record vocals as a work for hire, I can do that for you as well. But just a heads up, I do not write or record vulgar content and would prefer if my lyrics/vocals are not used for a collaboration containing vulgar content either. (**FYI, I don't produce or mix/master, so please keep all inquiries related to lyrics, toplining, and vocals).
I am also open to submitting some of the projects that we work on for potential music licensing deals with my various publishing contacts. That's a road we can explore if that is something you're interested in.
I am used to creating high quality materal for TV networks and cable channels, so I know what it takes to make your project extraordinary. Publishing splits and service rates are always negotiable. I'm pretty flexible.
Send me an email through 'Contact' button above and I'll get back to you asap.

Terrell's modern take on doo-wop, "Star City," is unique and incredibly written! I had a blast recording vocals for this project, and I can't wait to see what else is in store : )

Interview with Terrell Burt
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Variety. I like to approach each song from a unique and fresh perspective.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: I focus on more lyrics and top lining. I have not really dabbled in the production side of things yet.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Multiple projects for music licensing. My aim is to have so much music circulating on TV one day that you will have a difficult time changing channels and not hearing it in regular rotation.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: High quality art with an excellent turnaround time.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: When it comes to Hip Hop, I see myself as a hyrid of Common, Nas, and J. Cole. I like making Hip Hop with substance and with lyrics that can penetrate the heart. For other genres I do not really have a particular style, I just accommodate my writing to best fit the production.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Rapping but because I listen to and study multiple genres of music, I also have an understanding of writing other types of songs besides Hip Hop.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: The indie documentary Not Black Enough (now available on Amazon Prime). It won Best Score at the Austin Revolution Film Festival in 2017 and I contributed three songs to the film's soundtrack. This was my first placement ever and it set the trajectory for everything else. I'm forever grateful to Tracey Anarella and Peter Fish for the opportunity!
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been writing lyrics for about 18 years but have seriously pursued music as a viable career path for the last 12 years.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Leon Bridges because he's keeping Soul music alive.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Urban music but I love and appreciate all styles and types of music. I am influenced by everything. I appreciate music from Dolly Parton all the way to Drake. Good music can't be confined to one genre.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I'll usually record myself mumbling potential melodies in Voice Memos on my phone and then I'll revisit the idea and actually start writing lyrics around my mumbling while also listening to the production of the song in the works. Sometimes I will get the entire song done in one sitting in a few hours and then I'll do the necessary revisions/polishing the following day. If the song isn't done within a few hours the first day, I will finish the writing and revisions the following day.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Sam Cooke, 2Pac Shakur, Nas, Lecrae, Tori Kelly, and Leon Bridges. I am constantly listening to these artists and trying to draw inspiration from them.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Songwriting and laying vocals.
