Liina is just amazing person full of inspiration and ideas to make a music sounds better and professional. She know a lot about the modern production and can make a easy melody to catchy song. I will be for sure working with her in more projects and thank you Liina to this great collaboration opportunity.
Working with Liina was a positive experience of collaboration. She was considerate of my «vision» and keen that my personality and the originality of the songs would not be compromised in production. At the same time she was not afraid to offer useful criticism. She was efficient and thorough when it came to mixing, mastering and production. Her background as a musician was also helpful as she added base, strings and vocals to some tracks. Liina was professional, fun to work with, good at communicating and delivering on time. Would highly recommend her to any artist regardless of genre!
Liina brings an expert ear, excellent ideas and high level of professionalism to the projects we worked on. We quickly developed a strong working relationship, and Liina was able to interpret my ideas and visions with ease. I was thrilled with the results of the work Liina completed for me and I look forward to the opportunity to work of future projects together.
LNA, Liina Produced, Engineered and Mastered my debut Vinyl release, also for digital platforms. She took a basic demo and made it into something I am absolutely in love with. She is thourough, has great technical knowledge but also a way that draws the best out of you as an artist. The process from beginning to end was immaculate and I HIGHLY recommended. I will be making an EP with Liina as a priority. Great experience all round.
Interview with Liina T.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both. Lets put two generations of sound together and make something new out of that.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: Your song will sound like you when it is done.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Helping an artist to see their song come alive. There is nothing better than that.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What is your aim with the piece? Who is the song for (audience focus)? What is your image as an artist? Who inspires you in your music?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Have an idea what you would like, providing reference tracks or even a mood board.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Laptop with Ableton Live on it, Push 2, my electric piano, microphone and bottle of wine.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been producing, sound engineering and mixing for the past 4 years. In 2018 I finished MA degree in Music Production from the University of York and now I am ready to move in to the industry finding new amazing artists to work with.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Energetic, Deep, Wide, Emotional, Fun and with a Scandinavian melancholic vibe.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Don't get attached to your music too much whilst creating a beat or a groove. Keep on inventing and investigating new ways to variate them, it is better to have too much material than too less. You will know when something just works. Then pic your favourite clips for the full song and cut the rest... or leave them for another day.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I don't like putting myself in a genre box, as I am open to work with anything that is inspiring.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Arranging a song and making all the pieces fit together, as well as writing melodies and hooks. If you are stuck in your compositional process, you can always ask me advice and I will come up with a direction you can take.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I treat every song differently and therefore every approach is different. I like listening to what the piece needs, what supports the image and feel of the artist, and then bring the song alive with necessary techniques. I am not afraid to try new things, whilst knowing what are the trends of modern music.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have an constantly improving home studio setup, where I mostly work with Ableton Push 2, my Cort and Sigma guitars and Casio electronic piano. I have access to a sound treated room with Genelec speakers where I finish all of my mixes and mastering. I have two reel to reel tape machines that I love using, to create an authentic sound for drums or even vocals.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I am currently into Scandinavian pop-production style (Mø, Lykke Li, Tove Lo, Zara Larsson), as well as bands such as Years & Years in UK.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Production, mixing and songwriting for singer-songwriters, solo artists and bands. I am Finnish native living in UK so lyrics can be written with both of these languages.
