Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

A: I had the honor of writing/recording the theme song for a short film written/directed by my younger brother called "Staten Island Truffle Hunter" starring Chris Distefano. Such a fun project, especially because it was working with family.

Q: What are you working on at the moment?

A: Always working on original songs and live performances in Spain with my amazing drummer husband. I am also rehearsing for a musical theatre/opera performance with a full orchestra in Vera, Spain.

Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

A: I am only happy if you are happy.

Q: What do you like most about your job?

A: Helping others realize their musical masterpieces.

Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

A: That every vocal take is perfect and sung all the way through. Sometimes the concept of punch-ins, re-takes, and comping of vocal tracks can be unknown to the client, and that's okay, it's my job to make it sound so easy. :)

Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

A: I grew up performing locally in community theatre before attending The Boston Conservatory for a year, as well as San Francisco State University. Through that time period I was only singing music theatre, jazz standards, and a bit of opera. It wasn't until I met my husband that I began writing and recording original music. Since then, we have done 5 tours across the US, and later traveled overseas where we currently reside.

Q: How would you describe your style?

A: Very soulful with a classically trained sound.

Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

A: Sia would be my first choice as a songwriting partner because she has such a genuine real vibe to all her music, like it's effortless for her to write a good hook. Jennifer Lopez for a duet, because I feel like we'd be friends, and our voices would compliment each other nicely.

Q: Can you share one music production tip?

A: I like to use different mics for lead and background vocals. I also will sometimes use different mic placements, or stand further off the mic when tracking doubles. It can add a nice character to the stack. I also double all my harmony tracks for natural left/right pan.

Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

A: Songs in the bluesy pop genre seem to be most frequent. I also do a lot of electronic pop projects.

Q: What's your strongest skill?

A: Topline melody composition is a passion of mine.

Q: What do you bring to a song?

A: I bring my unique style and vocal training in many genres such as soul, pop, blues, jazz, musical theatre, etc. I also have 4 years study of Indian Classical vocals from the late Maestro Ali Akbar Khan.

Q: What's your typical work process?

A: I typically do the demo part of the process free of charge, with flat rates for lyric and vocal melody composition. For projects with pre-written lyrics and vocal guide provided in advance, I will often do a rough demo on my laptop as it helps me to familiarize myself with the song structure, and allows me to work out ideas for harmony/background vox.

Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

A: I have a highly efficient (albeit small) home studio set up in the countryside. I use Ableton Live 10 Suite for all recordings. I also play keys, and my husband is a professional drummer and sound engineer, so the house is always filled with music.

Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

A: For me, personally, Bjork has always had the most genuine production and songwriting methods, in addition to strong performance and musicality.

A: Pro quality vocal tracking. Lyric composition. Top line melody composition.
