Nailed it!
I asked for something very specific and Ocean delivered. Great performance!
Unprofessional. Order cancelled.
Ocean top-lined vocals and wrote lyrics for a song I'm releasing soon. Not only was her turnaround time incredible (she got everything done in four days, including lyrics), but she recorded in a great studio to ensure the vox quality was up to par with everything you hear on the radio. That really took the track to the next level. I'm excited to work with her again in the future.
Interview with -------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a home studio built inside a soundproofed shipping container, and I also get a great hourly deal at a more established studio as well.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What inspires you? What feelings and emotions do you want this song to provoke? How do you want to feel when you hear it?
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: An unlimited supply of paper and pens, my guitar and ukulele. That's all I need.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I wrote my first song when I was 14, and it's gotten 325,000 plays on Spotify. I've been writing ever since, and have performed across the country with Grammy-nominated SOJA amongst others.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Intensely vulnerable, universally relatable. 90s vintage streetwear grandma.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I adore Maggie Rogers. Her folk-pop vibe, songwriting prowess, and visual aesthetics are very in line with my own aspirations.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: When you write a hook, don't practice it for 24 hours. If it's still popping off in your head the next day, then you should expand upon it. If you're having to scratch your head to remember it, chances are it's not worth working into a full song.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Folktronica, indie-pop, acoustic.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Lyrics and melody are my bread and butter.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I like to communicate big themes and ideas as simply and eloquently as possible, in a way they haven't been before. I avoid cliches and tropes. The songs I write are heart-felt and unique.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I can write from personal experience or about a story told to me. The writing process flows really naturally for me, which makes meeting deadlines painless.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Sigrid, Maggie Rogers, Julia Michaels, Randy Newman, LP
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I top-line vocals and write lyrics.

"Overflowing with both delicacy and depth, these songs are deceptively complex. Ocean's lyrics are perfectly direct and yet elusive, alluding to ideas and images difficult to grasp without the assistance of beautiful music."
- "Record labels are constantly searching for the “next big thing,” often with that artist sitting right under their noses. That seems to be the case with Ocean Pleasant."Aug 11, 2018
