Charles works so fast and patient with revision,I definitely will work with him again
Charles is the man! A pleasure to work with in the studio. Fast with sounds, does NOT over play which is so refreshing! I would call Charles in a heartbeat! In addition to being a terrific player and a real Pro, he is a great hang...I expect to hear a lot of people talking about him over the years. Looking forward to more sessions!
Charles is the real deal. He provide quick turnaround time, and most of all, He has good sense of making bass line for each music style. And also he gives serveral tracks to choose for composer's taste. Do you want to make your music to next level? Just contact to Charles.
I've used Charles for several projects and he always delivers, beyond my expectations. He can sit back in the pocket. He can drive the groove forward. He can write a melody part that takes your song to the next level. I've had him play on pop, rock, country, funk, and even some new bluegrass and Celtic stuff. He always comes through. Top tier pro.
Charles gives you perfection. Great melodic sense and super solid tight pocket with outstanding tone and options to choose from! If you ever doubted that having and amazing bass player on your tune could add and or completely enhance your song then give Charles
a try and doubt no more.I can't recommend Charles enough. Quick turnaround, multiple bass lines to choose from and the most important factor - He plays to the song! He is also great with input and direction. For such a young player, he has his and your priorities in line.
Charles is a consumate pro, and a very good person to work with on your next project. I have worked with him on quite a few projects and have always been more than satisfied with his work, communication, and how quickly he gets the work completed to my satisfaction. Could not recommend anyone more highly, excellent musician for your project!
Interview with Charles Berthoud
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a LeFay De-Tuner, and a Music Man Stingray Bass, both 4-string. I plug into an Apogee Duet 2 Interface which connects into my MacBook Pro. Usually I go DI, but will occasionally use my Aguilar Tonehammer 500 amp. My DAW is Logic Pro X.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise that I will do EVERYTHING I can to ensure that you are happy with the bass part on your recording. My aim is to build a lasting business relationship. For that, I am willing to put in a lot of time and energy.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love the feeling of pleasantly surprising people with my additions to their song.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Pop, Rock, R&B, Funk
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I will listen to the song as many times as I need to have it memorized, and will chart it out. I will then record at least 3 takes. All of these takes are at a standard where I would be happy for anyone to listen to them. They vary in ideas, complexity and sometimes feel, in order to give you a wide range of options to choose from.
