Sarah Spencer | Vocalist on SoundBetter

Hi y'all! I'm an experienced session singer, working in various studios in Nashville, TN. I've recorded many songwriter demos and been a part of projects both locally and internationally.

I'm a Nashville based session singer. I pride myself on being able to adapt my vocal performance based on the needs of your song. I'm in and out of various Nashville studios, and regularly perform around town as a singer/songwriter.

Here are the bullet points!

• Sounds like Allison Krauss, Kellie Pickler, with some RnB influences.

• Large range, belt + head voice. Higher voice.

• Harmonies are no problem.

• Years of training and studio experience.

• Regularly performing artist and songwriter.

• Records with engineer partner who professionally edits audio for you.

  1. Review by Redd K.

Sarah has a beautiful voice and was a pleasure to work with. She was open to working with my ideas, but also added her own ideas for harmonies and stylistic touches. My songs are going to sound much better and more professional as a result of her vocals.
I am extremely pleased and look forward to working with her again.
    Thanks, Sarah!

Interview with Sarah Spencer | Vocalist

  1. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  2. A: Typically, songwriters and studios book me to sing on songwriter demos. I've also been booked just to provide background vocals.

  3. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  4. A: Vince Gil harmonies give me goosebumps, especially on a ballad.

  5. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  6. A: The ability to adapt to my clients needs. Years of studio time and training. I'll always give you a great performance, too, that doesn't sound stale of "over-trained".

  7. Q: What's your typical work process?

  8. A: Get the lyrics and the reference track as well as instrumental version. Practice the song. Get in the studio and track. Send the audio out to the client for feedback. Track again if needed. Deliver the final audio files. Have a beer. :)

  9. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  10. A: My strengths vocally are country, americana, folk, or pop. When it comes to songwriting, I write best in those genres, but also have experience writing hip hop hooks and dance songs.

  11. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  12. A: Moved to Nashville in 2012 to pursue a career in songwriting. Haven't stopped singing and writing since! :) Now I have a small EP and a growing catalog of indie cuts under my belt. I play around town regularly, and am always singing.

  13. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  14. A: What's your vision for the song? What well known artist would you like to hear singing it? Is there wiggle room on the melody (ad libs, runs, etc.)? Do you have harmony parts in mind already, and if so, how many?
