Interview with Patrick Noon
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: for the river city extension album "deliverance" we brought a remote studio out to a cabin in the Poconos and spent 2 weeks there recording. pretty awesome experience!
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Alan Douches at west west side
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: mostly digital. recall is way easier
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: that ill go above and beyond to make you happy about your songs!
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: that I can make chicken soup outta chicken shit haha.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: who they'd like to be in a playlist with so we know what to aim for
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: make sure you've heard work they've done and that you're into it. Make sure the communication is good!
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: over 22 years at this point. I started out playing in bands, recording my band then recording my friends bands then friends of friends and it kinda just went from there.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: make it sound good? there's no real rules if it sounds cool! be unique and do whatever serves the song
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Ive done a bit of everything over the years but seem to get more singer/songwriter/folk stuff lately. Bunch of punk/emo....
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: communication and making the client happy is always my #1. im always available and have never missed a deadline!
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: If we're talking mixing specifically. I usually like to get the song to where I would put it out. From there ill send it over for whatever revisions you might have and we can fine tune it from there!
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: its a hybrid setup with a handful pieces of analog gear mixed with digital. Mixes are run through the outboard gear and back into pro tools.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Its a pretty even amount of tracking and mixing projects.
