Arthur helped us on some mixing work that needed to be done in a hurry and with no compromises. The dude just nailed the job! Quick, responsive and a good listener. We're surely working again in the future.
After creating the beats for my Album "Smooth", Arthur did also the mix and master for it, because i was searching for people to work with, who would put some soul and talent into the work they are doing, and he is definitely one of them. He found the right sound of the project and gave his best to bring out the music in it's best variation. Interview with Arthur Kowales
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: There was a project I worked with an artist from Vienna. It consisted of me producing 7 tracks for her album and then mixing and mastering the whole album, which consisted of 10 tracks. And the most fascinating thing was that I never met face to face with her. All the production, mix, and master was done entirely through the internet. Until this point, I had only worked with singles or few songs through the internet, and realizing that I was able to make an entire album at distance was extremely rewarding for me.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I usually start asking what references they have. I must be able to understand what the client's vision is, that way we'll both be talking the same language.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been producing for 5 years. I first started in high school, not knowing exactly that this could be a career. Then when college came I decided to pursue a career as a studio engineer. I can say that I'm proud of everything I've done so far, everything is a lesson that I can use to become something better.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Hip-hop, trap, RnB, pop.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is to be able to, from the beginning of a project, identify strong and weak points that need to be worked to achieve the best song possible.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm very inspired by Post Malone when working with Louis Bell. This duo is the dream team of any record label. My goal is to understand the artists I work with as good as Louis understands Post when working with him.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My MacBook Pro, audio interface, microphone, headphones, and a midi keyboard.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I use 2 main DAWs: Ableton Live 10 for producing, tracking and composing, and Logic Pro for editing, mixing and mastering. In these 2 programs I mainly use Waves, Fabfilter and iZotope plug-ins, as well as Bias Amp 2 for recording bass and guitars and EzDrummer for programmed drums. My interface is an Apollo Twin.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The most common type of work I do is mixing, mastering and making beats.
