I aim to deliver mixes that feel cohesive, musical and true to the song, and I enjoy working closely with artists to get the details right.
I’m an Australian producer and mixing engineer based in the Greater Sydney area, working primarily with indie, rock and alternative artists. I come from a band background myself and have been actively involved in writing, recording, producing and releasing music for over a decade. Alongside client work, I produce and release music with my band Sugar Soap.
I’ve collaborated with a range of independent artists and bands, and I work mainly on guitar-based and synth-driven music, blending live instruments with programmed elements. I also work remotely with artists worldwide and aim to make the mixing process straightforward and collaborative.
As a songwriter and "multi-instrumentalist" myself, I understand the importance of delivering a mix that feels authentic and release-ready, and I approach every project with care, attention and musical intention.

Interview with Luke Mahler
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I come from a background as a musician and songwriter, and I’ve been actively involved in bands and recording projects for over 10 years. Alongside playing and writing, I gradually moved into producing and mixing, initially working on my own projects and then expanding to other artists. Being an artist myself has shaped the way I approach mixing and I love both the creative and emotional side of releasing music.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I mainly work on indie rock, indie pop and alternative music.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I start by getting a clear understanding of the artist’s vision through references, mix notes and discussion. From there, I build the mix from a song-first perspective. I provide clear communication throughout the process and welcome feedback, using revisions to refine the mix until it feels right for the song and the artist.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I primarily work with independent artists and bands who have finished recording and are ready to take their songs to a professional mix. Most of my work is remote mixing for indie rock, indie pop and alternative music. I often work with artists recording at home or in small studios who want their mixes to feel cohesive, punchy and ready for release.
