My name is Malcolm Gold. I'm a session bassist in NYC. My credits include: India.Arie, Sheryl Crow, The Weepies, Rob Thomas, Morgan Heritage,Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Days of the New, The Waterboys and other fine folks.
I've been doing this for a while and can humbly say that I'm a creative player with the experience and humility to find the right bass part for the song. I'm a hard person to offend and I take direction well. I'm more interested in serving the song, not myself.
I also sing. Both lead and background.
I'd love to hear about your project. Click the 'Contact' button above to get in touch.

Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Robert L. Smith
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I tend to think like a producer, in the studio. I'd like to think that I can hear where songs should go, in terms of the creative process.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I just finished a record with two-time Tony winner, Norbert Leo Butz. It's his debut record, as a songwriter. Some really great music with some amazing talents.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: They both are great in the hands of people who know how to use them.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Everything.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: I would suggest having a plan together for your record, first. Know what direction you want to head in creatively, but also hire the right people, so you'll have enough confidence in them to let them bring their talents to your "table'.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Easy...My P-Bass, my upright bass and bow, and a bottle of water.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I'm a groove player. That's where I live.
