Music is not just a word or a sound, it's an emotion. I believe in serving the song first, connecting to the emotional content of the artist's vision to find the best way to represent what they want to share with the world.
My name is Darryl Swart and I’ve been a full-time recording engineer, producer and drummer for over 20 years, working with various artists across multiple genres including, Rock, Alternative, Hip Hop, Country and EDM.
I started recording and producing music in the mid-90's while living in Durban, South Africa, where I grew up. I moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 2000 and lived there for 8 years, recording and touring with my band at the time, Tree63. Tree63 released 6 albums, received a Dove Award in 2001 for our US debut and a Billboard Music Award for the most-played song of 2004. The band has also collected various other South African mainstream music industry awards and nominations over the years. Tree63 disbanded at the end of 2007 and I relocated to Calgary, Alberta, Canada with my family. In 2016, I won the YYC Music Award for Alternative Recording of the Year for the album - It’s Safe, I’m Not Here - with Canadian band, The Wisers.
I work predominantly on Pro-Tools using Universal Audio interfaces and multiple brands of plug-ins and hardware equipment (both vintage and new). I also have access to a long list of A level session musicians based all over the world. I'd love to help you take your songs or song ideas to the next level.
