This is the second time Gene mastered my song - he never disappoints! He was able to give me some quick ways to make the mix shine better, then completed the track, and made everything balanced and at the right volume. Really appreciate his attention to detail and professionalism as always!

Gene absolutely knows what he's doing, and the way the master made my mix shine was nuts. I deeply appreciate his tolerance of my inexperience, and how much patience he showed for my constant delays and mix mistakes. I cannot recommend him more highly: You can't go wrong with Gene in the electronic space. Peace and thanks, man!

Interview with Uberphat
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: My first big break out track was a collaborative effort between several artists. I spearheaded the project which successfully garnished top ten exposure and was played by a DJ Mag's Top 10 DJ on his own radio show. Fun times.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Answering this interview :)
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Depends on what the project is. Ask me and I will recommend.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both!! I use genuine analog emulation software to get that glue, warmth, and sparkle. Working mostly in-the-box to deliver the best sounding result possible. That means using the digital domain headroom and quality to deliver the cleanest result. While the Analog emulated plugins give that sheen and warmth that classic records evoke. Today's new software is beyond amazing at giving us the sound of analog gear in the digital domain. Bringing together the best of both worlds is how I achieve platinum, world-class quality results.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I always aim to provide the best results possible in a timely manner.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: How long have you been doing this? 20+ Years. Can you make it sound loud and clean? Absolutely. Is the song going to be mastered for iTunes ready? Yes.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That anyone can do it. It takes a certain level of expertise and confidence that only comes through years of dedicated experience to successfully reach these results.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What loudness levels are you looking for? Is this song being distributed to streaming sites or for the clubs? Please make sure to send all stems in highest quality possible.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Communication is key in this field. If I know what you need done, my job becomes a lot easier. Thankfully all my clients know this and tell me exactly what they are looking for.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: It would be nice to work together on a song with The Weeknd. I'm certain he would bring a lot to the table.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Low-cut everything around 100-120hz in all non-bass elements to clean up mud and gain more headroom.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: EDM: Future Music, Trap, Progressive, Techno, House, Trance, Dubstep, Hardstyle, Breaks, Chillout.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Quality, Tonality, Boost, Enhancement, Sparkle, Magic, Tight Clear Bass.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: First we will talk about your project and what you'd like to achieve with it. Then once we have established a clear view of what you need, I will get to work on the project. The client will send me the parts, mix-down or render. I do my spicy magic processing and send it back to you for review. Once you reply, I adjust as needed and re-send for confirmation. When you are happy with the way the project sounds I will send you the final prints (Wave and MP3 files). After that you can conclude the open job project and start a new one if you'd like.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I run a modest, but world-class quality setup, with mostly in-the box processing. Recently I upgraded to the coaxial Scepter 8's from PreSonus for my near-field monitoring and it has been an absolute joy. The imaging and timing has improved greatly. I have hardware synths like Access Virus TI, Roland Juno, and Novation K-Station, but the bulk of my instruments and effects are located directly on my vast computer archive. I love computers and the power they represent when it comes to the Audio field. With out electronics we would still be listening through a brass horn. I'd like to think that my most valuable piece of equipment in the studio is my expertly trained ears.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Pryda, Illenium, San Holo, Kap Slap, Diplo, Tiesto, AVB, Adrenalize, Headhunterz, PVD, Slushii, Virtual Riot, and tons more.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: EDM Mastering is my top request, followed closely by commissioned ghost production and mixing services.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Doing what I love every day. Listening to amazing new music. Having the freedom to work from home.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Survival gear. Knife, Flint & Tinder, Water Purifier, Seeds, First-Aid / Antibiotics.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Innovative Modern Electronic Bass Music.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Mixing and Mastering. Enhancement and Signal Chain Processing.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: Computer Science / Audio Engineer. 20+ Years of successful professional experience.
