Jordan Fox on SoundBetter

High quality vocals recorded in my home studio. Pop, Rock, Indie, EDM, Theater, and more... Vocal editing, tuning, mixing/mastering.

I have a degree in Music Production and premium equipment and software. As a singer myself, my greatest strength is making sure EVERY note, melody, and harmony are purposeful. The greatest high for me is taking a song from just an idea and flushing it out into a full production. There's no better feeling than that moment when you can just press play after all the hard work. I love working together, bouncing ideas, and creating something we are both proud of!

Pricing varies by project so shoot me a message and we can talk more...

Jordan is amazing to work with because of his passion and commitment to making each project the best that it can possibly be. I consider myself lucky to have been able to collaborate with Jordan on several occasions as I always learn something from him and have my own passions for music reinvigorated. If you are looking for a dedicated worker with great taste, class and humility, then Jordan is who you should hire.

Jordan’s most admirable trait as a musician is his insistence on perfection. Whether he’s arranging, producing, or singing, Jordan works to achieve perfection. But what sets Jordan apart from many musicians is his musical versatility. His ear for different styles, notably pop and indie music, makes him a very special and valuable member of a musical team. Trust that Jordan will work until the product is complete. He’s an incredible musician and tenacious worker.

Interview with Jordan Fox

  1. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  2. A: I usually work on pop and alternative styles.

  3. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  4. A: My strongest skill is my ability to learn quickly and accomplish anything I set my mind to.

  5. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  6. A: I use my Macbook Pro along with a Neumann TLM 103 and an Apollo Twin MkII interface. I don't believe that making great music needs expensive analog gear, although it does help.

  7. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  8. A: I am extremely proud of the song "Stay Right" by L E A that I worked on. The song feels really honest and positive and just makes you feel good!

  9. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  10. A: I am working on some of my own music at the moment.

  11. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  12. A: not yet! I haven't had the chance to work with anyone yet.

  13. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  14. A: Digital....it's cheaper and the extreme amounts of more money aren't worth the difference in sound unless you are a big time producer working for top 40 artists every day.

  15. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  16. A: My promise is that I will try my absolute best help your project turn out the way you envisioned or better!

  17. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  18. A: I think people underestimate by far how much work and time goes into the entire production process. You can sit and tweak the tiniest parts for hours or spend a day on just one line or one instrument.

  19. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  20. A: I would personally love to have a phone or in person conversation and listen to some music they love. That gives me an idea of the sound they are looking for.

  21. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  22. A: Work with someone you feel comfortable with. Music is personal, and you want someone who can understand you and your feelings, ideas, etc. to help bring that through in the music.

  23. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  24. A: Guitar, Midi Keyboard, Macbook, Microphone, Interface. (assuming wires and headphones don't count towards the five)

  25. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  26. A: I'd love to work with Max Martin. He is the mystery man behind so many great hit songs.

  27. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  28. A: Layering vocals! most very new producers don't do nearly enough layering of vocal doubles, harmonies, and sounds. Even if they just sit very quietly in the background they can add that extra icing to the cake.

  29. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  30. A: I think each person brings to a song a combination of all their experiences as a human being along with all the music they've heard in their life. An original sound is original because no one has the same experiences I have.

  31. Q: What's your typical work process?

  32. A: My process is COMPLETELY different for each artist, song, etc. That's what's the most fun about making music, you never know where an idea or inspiration will come from.

  33. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  34. A: Max Martin and Jack Antonoff as well as Ryan Tedder are some of my all time favorites.

  35. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  36. A: I do a lot of vocal editing, recording, and tuning. As a singer, I find it fun to help vocalists get the best sound they can in the studio by layering vocals along with harmonies and doubles. It is also my job as the engineer/producer to get the most emotionally raw performance I can. The one thing that cannot be fixed in post production is emotion.
