Austin Fillmore takes pride in being different from other artists
and uses it to his advantage with his #ThinkLessFeelmore movement. He urges his fans to submit to emotions and feel. “Growing up in a black household you’re typically told to stay away from emotions. Especially for black men, we’re told not to cry, never smile and never break down,” Fillmore says. Austin disagrees with this idea of hyper-masculinity and believes that introspection is essential to personal growth.
Austin’s style is constantly changing. At times, he sticks to classic Hip-Hop & Rap stylings, but he occassionally dips into the genres of Alternative and Hard Rock. Austin told interviewers, “I don’t stick to rules (about music),” and from a quick listen through his discography, it becomes clear that the track determines what Austin we’ll hear from. His hit track “Juke” was written to mimic his energy-filled High School days where everything was a vibe and good times were the only thing that mattered. At live shows, you can still see that the excitement of those early days hasn’t left this rap veteran when he immediately takes control of a crowd.
