    Interview with .

    1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

    2. A: I composed a piece with the help of Master of the Queen's Music Judith Weir, which was performed by members of the National Scottish Youth Orchestra.

    3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

    4. A: I'm arranging Scot Joplin's Maple Leaf Rag for Expanded Symphonic Orchestra, as requested by one of my clients.

    5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

    6. A: Sadly, no.

    7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

    8. A: Digital. Things can be altered, and can be accessed from anywhere.

    9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

    10. A: I will try my best to meet all your requirements, no matter how confining they are.

    11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

    12. A: I bring pleasure to other people when they hear my music.

    13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

    14. A: How long do you need to write it? This depends. I can blast out a 2 minute piano solo in just a couple of days, but a 5 minute orchestral work might take up to a couple of months to complete.

    15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

    16. A: People think I can write anything. I am suited much more to some genres than to others (ie. I can do classical, contemporary classical, orchestral etc.)

    17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

    18. A: What genre of music do you want composing? What is it for? Do you want it to be for certain instruments? How long should it be? When do you want it for?

    19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

    20. A: Look for a composer who can write in the style you want. Don't pick me to write heavy metal for example.

    21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

    22. A: Piano Laptop to compose on (with unlimited battery) Spotify Wi-Fi to access new songs Phone to contact other composers

    23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

    24. A: I've been composing full time for 4 years, and have been committed to music since I was 4 - learning piano and composition

    25. Q: How would you describe your style?

    26. A: A blend of classical and more modern, popular music.

    27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

    28. A: Einaudi, because his influence on the contemporary classical area of music has been enormous.

    29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

    30. A: Go with what sounds right, not what 'should theoretically' be right.

    31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

    32. A: Any acoustic track (ie. for real life instruments)

    33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

    34. A: Piano Solo Composition

    35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

    36. A: My style is quite unique, blending classical music with the accessibility of more popular music to create a fresh sound.

    37. Q: What's your typical work process?

    38. A: I'll see the brief, and from that I'll choose instrumentation (unless I'm composing for some pre-decided instruments) and compose a piece of music just for you.

    39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

    40. A: I work on Noteflight.com, where I can easily compose any acoustic track to your liking.

    41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

    42. A: Einaudi, Debussy, Chopin, Beethoven, Yiruma, Ccciapaglia

    43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

    44. A: I compose music for any brief. Maybe for cartoons, films, or just a relaxing piano solo to listen to in the evening
